Amazing place where you can find history The map on the floor of the entry way is a glimpse into the past and the ways that map-making has advanced in the last two centuries Steeped in history and with an ever changing gallery, the library is a great place to go to experience some local flavor. The main library room is absolutely breath taking, especially if you actually manage to make it inside. If you are here at Sydney the a must visit place This is definitely a must see if you're trying to experience Sydney's history

I was just killing time in Sydney so I ventured in to the State Library of NSW. It’s a stunning sandstone building in a lovely location opposite the Sydney Botanical Gardens. It’s beautifully quiet inside. Lots of small art exhibitions upstairs in the galleries. I love exploring buildings like this overseas but this one in my home town is lovely and it’s free.

The original building is just stunning and it’s as much an art gallery / exhibition space as a library. It’s totally worth an afternoon to see all of the galleries. I loved the map room. We saw an excellent exhibit on the Dunera. The massive reading room is epic.

A magnificent library that has it all! This beautiful building is not only a public library, but has several small art exhibitions, a cafe, shop, and plenty of space to hang out and relax in. The exhibitions were impressive in their quality and scope. The library's permanent collection has many paintings of Australian landscapes and historical figures. Some of the newer exhibits, such as the one on Internment Camps, were informative and well curated.

The State Library is not only a library, but also an art gallery and various interesting special and temporary exhibitions, the number of which exceeded my expectations. The collection of landscapes and figures is a permanent exhibition, and you can log in to the website on your mobile phone to listen to the audio introduction, which is free. There are also some interesting temporary exhibitions with different themes.
