Reviews for Rydges World Square

Great location, couple of minutes easy walk from Museum Station. Slightly further walk to the light rail, but still an easy walk in less than 5 minutes. Got a free upgrade to a superior room on a higher floor. Not sure if the room itself was better, but still no view, looked straight into another building. Fairly good selection of food for the breakfast. Very friendly staff, will to help where they can. Will definitely stay there again.

Had a comfortable stay! Location being convenient is the top quality + bed was super comfortable. Good for all types of travellers. Saw a lot of air stewardess staying at the hotel, maybe because of the convenience — very close to train stations and just a short train ride from airport. Very near a number of restaurants and shops and supermarkets too. Concierge service was good too - very kind and helpful. Has luggage storage service if you arrive early or wants to go out after check out. Downside was the room was a little far from the lift - quite a few turns along the corridor to get to the room, was an interesting layout.

All reviews are, by nature, subjective. I encourage anyone considering this property to do their own research and read multiple reviews before making a decision. The following reflects my personal experience at Rydges World Square. While the hotel has some positive aspects, overall our stay was disappointing. The accommodation hallway was dimly lit, with dark and dated décor. The rooms, though furnished with relatively modern pieces, looked tired and in need of a refresh. They were, however, quite spacious. This is not a criticism of the housekeeping staff—who seemed to be doing their best—but more a sign of an aging property that is difficult to maintain. Unfortunately, our bathroom felt less than clean, with marks on the bathtub and grout that appeared grimy. The shower water never became truly hot, only lukewarm at best. The “Smart” TV was another frustration, constantly displaying error messages and showing apps as unavailable. Even basic catch-up TV channels such as 7+ and ABC iView couldn’t be accessed. The only streaming available was through costly pay-per-view movies. A major issue for us was misleading information regarding the buffet breakfast. The website description—“Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast, featuring fresh pastries, hot dishes, and barista-made coffee”—strongly suggests that barista coffee is included. However, once seated, staff directed us to a sign listing barista coffee options (without prices) and asked if we would like to order, never mentioning that these came at an extra cost. Only drip-filter coffee is actually included in the buffet. I realise this may sound like a minor detail, but in hotels of this standard it is increasingly common for freshly ground coffee, often from a self-serve machine, to be part of the buffet. Additionally, the advertised weekday walk-in price of $32 turned out to be $35 when we were charged. Despite disputing the charges, little flexibility was shown—though one coffee was eventually removed from the bill. To be fair, the breakfast buffet itself was quite good, with a variety of hot dishes, breads, pastries, fruits, yoghurts, and even a pancake machine. I can’t comment on the Wi-Fi speed as I relied on mobile data during our stay. Parking is available onsite in a secure basement facility. However, be prepared for a long descent, passing numerous speed bumps, to reach the designated Rydges section, which is managed by licence plate recognition and located deep in the basement. Pros: Central CBD location, close to public transport, Chinatown, shopping precincts, and attractions Spacious rooms Onsite, safe, and secure parking (though access is somewhat inconvenient)

This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a poor review about a hotel. Most of the hotels I’ve stayed at in the past have been very understanding about late check-out requests, especially since flights to Kuwait usually depart late in the evening between 9–10 pm. We politely asked for a late check-out, and while the first receptionist seemed open to it, the second receptionist refused, saying the hotel was fully booked. The lobby, however, did not appear crowded, and we had only requested to check out around 1 pm so we could head directly to the airport. As a family of seven, reducing the time spent waiting at the airport is very important, particularly for my elderly parents who find it uncomfortable to stay there for long hours. Unfortunately, the lack of flexibility left us quite disappointed. Overall, the location of the hotel is excellent, but the service was not accommodating, and the rooms were only moderate.

Great location, under hotel itself (or should I say inside hotel patio) many food options or stores. Close to as it look weekend entertainment street and china town also Hyde park nearby. Great restaurant and cidery, price surprisingly good in this placement and standards in room and service For some people beds could be too soft
