We stayed at The Star in October for 3 nights in a Superior King room. Initially we were super impressed by the room. It was spacious, well furnished and the bathroom seemed great. However, each morning the lights would come on by themselves anywhere between 12am and 4 am. Even when turned off they would turn themselves on again. We complained to reception every day and yet it continued to occur. We also found issues with the door entry to the room intermittently. The towels provided looked like cleaning towels. They were standard size and completely frayed. Furthermore the vent in the bathroom had the most disgusting mould in it. As nothing had been fixed during our stay despite our regular reporting of it (although we were told it was fixed) I sent an email once we got home to advise them of it. Their first solution was to call at 9.30pm Sydney time to discuss the day after my complaint. When we finally made contact their solution to our disappointing stay and ruined experience was to offer an upgrade on our next stay should we book the same room, pay full price, and then email to request the upgrade. This however was capped at 2 nights when we had stayed for 3 and was not available during any block out periods which were not defined and they stated we must book first and then request which could ultimately result in not receiving the upgrade. I am disgusted by the room and the customer service during and thereafter from The Star. The only thing I can say that is positive is that the restaurant Cucina Porto at The Star is delicious. The accommodation, had it been just one or two things once would be fine but the amount of things and lack of response was disgusting.

Appalling standard of accommodation. The worst beds and sheets I've ever experienced. Not to mention the racist facial ID system the casino uses to falsely accuse guests of not paying for food even though they weren't in the building. Zero apologies or accountability from the casino. Do not stay here.

It’s a gorgeous casino which is a shame because it seems like very few people are interested in being here. We visited on a Friday night and there were heaps of empty tables and no “vibe” at all. For those visiting, Australia has some strict gaming rules so every single person needs to sign up for a loyalty card before gambling at all. This process took about 15 minutes. Otherwise, as mentioned, everything looks brand new. Splendid viewing experience with some great restaurants.

Out of country gamblers beware. They decrease your odds of winning on machines based off the block they put on your rewards card if you sign up with a passport outside of the country. Fine if playing tables, but beware of the machines that adjust odds based on the players card in the machine!! They also force you to sign up for a players card in order to play any games and then will spam you with offers and sell your phone number to 3rd parties. BIG SCAM!

Casino review: As many have noted, it is a bit of a production to play poker or games here due to the lengthy membership policy. My husband had signed up for poker; we have played poker all over the world, and he signed up in advance, and when we arrived, they said he had to have a membership card. Easy enough right? No, apparently not. He had already signed up for part of the membership card in advance, because we had read this would be a challenge, but online it would not let him receive a particular security number or something he needed, so we stood in another line, And they told us that we needed to sign up at the machines, and we told them we tried to…they finally let us stand in line so we could show them that the machines were faulty. I don’t know if it was because we had a passport from another country, but the person said, “yes, this happens all the time.“ Not very encouraging. So, now, we finally get a membership, but I watched them deal with other people trying to navigate the machines and gosh… It must’ve been so frustrating for everybody because nobody was in a good mood. The customers… grumpy….The people dealing with the customers… grumpy... The membership desk…. Grumpy….Everybody was really quite grumpy. Not a great way to start a night. So we received our membership card and went back up to where we had signed up to play poker and tried to give them money, and they told us that we must pay the money in chips. Now at this point, we are 30 minutes late for his poker game. So we ask where we get chips, and the dude gave us directions, but that place was really quite crowded, so we finally ended up cashing in his hundreds for chips so that we could finally play poker. And now, partway into the game, it doesn’t feel good. I feel like he’s lost a bit of his mojo, and he’s not sitting there and excited with the other players, because we had to go through this whole rigamarole with membership and chips. Really quite disappointing. I may look like I’m smiling in these photos, but I’m really just exhausted… He did OK. He would’ve done much better had he been seated in time and not been so stressed out.
