Great Location, only a 5 min walk to Central Station and 10 mins to Chinatown, 20 mins to Darling Harbour. Upon checking in we noticed that we were not offered the same as other guests checking in - complimentary breakfast, complimentary upgrades. The staff didn't even notify us that there was a kids play room or kids activities that was happening during our stay. We happened to find out on the last day of our stay. They didn't even bother to tell us which lift to use to get to our room as the hotel is long and splits into 2 sides. The beds are way too soft and the showers don't drain fast enough to have a nice proper shower. The rooms are very spacious, clean and a/c worked well and did not feel stuffy, however there was a lack of amenities - no toothbrush/toothpaste, comb. We had to change rooms because of the bed and was asked to bring our luggage down so they can get the other room ready. I had some yoghurt and kimchi that needed to be kept in the fridge and kindly asked them to keep it in the fridge until we came back just after lunch, but unfortunately I had to throw it out as they left it at room temperature (mind you it was 40 degrees that day). The pool looked much nicer in the photo than in person, it was very cold, my young daughter couldn't be in there for more than 20 mins as her lips started to turn blue, however spa seemed quite nice though I wasn't able to fully appreciate it with the little one. Also, if you needed some towels for the pool, you had to go all the way to reception to ask for it before going back up to the pool. You don't find out until you get to the pool area. Overall, great location if you needed a place next to the train station, but the service is quite poor. The hotel is quite old and run down so don't expect anything fancy.

The first impression we had when we walked into this hotel was that it was immaculately clean. The receptionists were very friendly and helped me, even with the silliest of questions. The bedroom was very tidy and well presented and Iwe really appreciated the Christmas card and gift they left for us. The pool is very nice and clean. The sauna is nice and hot. We really enjoyed it. We loved every aspect of our experience with this hotel, including the buffet breakfast! And, we really appreciated being able to leave our luggage in their secure lock up long after we checked out, while we went sightseeing Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel and we will be back.

Upon checking in I noted we were not offered the same information as those next to us were receiving from the person who checked them in (no breakfast location, offer of additional key, etc...). As we're fairly seasoned travellers we knew to ask if need be. Once in our room, it appeared clean and was spacious. When using the bathroom for the first time we noticed there was no hand soap and so I went to reception and was quickly given some along with an apology. We slept well, was able to control the A/C easily, and the blinds kept out most of the morning light. If a softer mattress is your preference, then you'll love this king size bed. Breakfast was included in our room price, and was quite good with a variety of choices - although the coffee could have been better. Sadly, this is where things began to fall apart. We left the hotel around 10am with the "Please do our room" sign on the door handle. We returned about 3 hours later to find it had not been done. With such a large hotel, we figured it would be complete later in the day. We then saw a housekeeping staff member and asked if they would do our room. They responded in the positive, and so left again and returned 4 hours later...with the sign still on the door, and the room not complete. We were in need of clean towels, and the bins were overflowing from the previous meals. We mentioned the room had not been serviced to reception. We were told towels would be brought to our room, and was offered no apology and no promise of the room being serviced anytime soon. 30 min later towels arrived, and we asked for bins to be emptied and we were then offered our room be serviced. We left for dinner, and yes, once we returned about 3 hours later the room had had a superficial service (only the top of the bed was made with the bottom sheet and mattress protector all crumpled up - we needed to remake it and surfaces had not been wiped over. Usually when checking out you are asked how your stay was, so I was prepared to give fair feedback, but the question wasn't asked, they seemed busy and so we left. We paid over $370 per night for a standard king room and was met with a fair amount of apathy from some of the staff. The room itself seemed clean, but the bathroom was in need of a good scrubbing. There was visible black mould in the shower (floor and wall), and behind the bathroom sink. We chose Rydges for reliability and this particular one for location...sadly it is unlikely we will ever stay at a Rydges again.

Just minutes from the Central station. Very convenient to get into the main city areas and beyond. The hotel is a tired, business hotel. There were several conferences going on while we were there. The person who checked us in seemed completely disinterested in their job although an interaction with reception staff a day later was much better. There is nothing inviting about the reception area, nowhere comfortable to sit and have coffee / drinks. There is a restaurant / breakfast room - looked clean and lots of people did have breakfast there. We didn’t so I can’t comment on the food. There is a guest lounge which looks like a workplace tea room ( see photos). The pool and sauna are nice but you have to go to reception to get a towel and there is only a toilet area to change in. Bedrooms are adequate. The bed was comfortable and the shower good. Housekeeping wasn’t consistent ( bathroom missed one day, tea / coffee not topped up another). All in all given the price we paid I thought it was poor value. We were however there as part of a package for the Ashes so probably paid an inflated rate. Wouldn’t stay there again.

I had a really solid stay here overall. The location is unbeatable since it is tucked away on a quiet street but still just a short walk from Central Station. The staff are the absolute highlight—they are incredibly friendly and genuinely helpful. While there are a few quirks with the building layout and some minor cleaning misses at the start, the daily upkeep and the convenience of the area made for a great visit. Pros * Ideal location on a quiet street that is still very close to the main central station. * The staff are lovely and made us feel very welcome. * Room cleaning was great and kept the space very tidy every day. * Fresh towels provided daily. * The bathroom is big. * Fast and reliable wifi speed. * Provided a high-quality iron and ironing board. Cons * Strict check-in time; we had to wait until 3pm sharp to get into our room. * Found some dust on the table tops when we first entered the room. * The lifts are very slow; there are four in total, but they are spread far apart from each other. * The B1 level seems to be where the bins are kept, so if the lift stops there before picking you up at the Ground floor, it smells quite bad. * The mini fridge is full of their own snacks, so there is barely any room for your own things.
