Remarkable!!! The most incredible Japanese food we’ve eaten. Service was incredible - very attentive, polite, professional. Decor and ambience were lovely. Highly recommend, because we certainly will be back!

It’s been awhile since my last time here. A little disappointing on knowing the rules had changed for casino guest membership discounts. We had 5 people and upon asking for the bill presenting our platinum membership card we were told there is no discounts. Because we had 5 people on the table. The max pax for each table to get the discount is 4 people. Which we were like you should at least tell us when we came into the restaurant. I must say the service wasn’t friendly at all. It seems to me that the people who was working at the restaurant was quite miserable which you can see on their faces and body gesture. If I had to pay full price I’d rather take my money and spend it at a better restaurant.

We recently sat at the sushi counter at Sokyo for their sushi experience, and honestly, it fell short of expectations, especially for the price. The food was quite average, lacking the wow factor you’d expect from such a reputable place, and the service left a lot to be desired. The only highlight of the evening was the sommelier, who was knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing visit for a place that used to be so good.

Overpriced food with inattentive service. Really wanted to like this place but sadly disappointed. Sushi was made with minced raw salmon and rolled messily and unevenly - some slices have double the amount of rice on it than others, some rolls unravelling on the platter. Service was inattentive and haphazard. Plates were not cleared away, leading to awkward situations where we had to stack and move plates away ourselves. Certainly not the kind of service that begets a $140pp degustation experience. Charged $6 per person for still water which wasn't advertised. In Australia, it is certainly customary for still water to be free and even if not, pricing should be open. Bit of an unpleasant surprise finding an extra charge at the end of the night which ultimately rounded off a subpar meal. I left hungry There are many other Japanese restaurants well worth your money to dine at in Sydney for sure.

Sometimes you step into a restaurant and there is this vibe in the air which seems to say “We’re hot shit.” Which to be fair is exuded mostly from The Star that backs this establishment both physically and logistically. We didn’t make a booking so requested to sit at the bar seats to order our food. Made ample selection out of the menu and was not disappointed - but with the pricetag attached to the items it’s a given that expectations should be high. The Sokyo was just enough. It didnt exceed expectations but it didn’t fall below. Not exactly hot shit but I’ll let them claim warm status.
