The hotel itself was stunning on the inside. Beautiful designs and great food. That being said, my room was in a state of disrepair with 3 large holes left from where it looked like there was a leak upstairs at some point and never got properly patched up (pictured is the nicest of the 3). The toilet paper was barely attached to the wall, and the Alexa didn't work. Blankets had crusty stains on them, and the AC barely worked, but when it did, you could hear it loudly buzzing. On top of that, my key stopped working, and I had to have it reprogrammed 3 separate times. Even better, the staff walked in twice without knocking, once by a guy while I was in the bath. He just stared at me for a couple of seconds and then left. The location is great. It's only a few minutes' walk from the gardens and them the Opera house. Overall, it was rather disappointing for a 5 star hotel, but a great venue for weddings or to stay while visiting nearby attractions. Finally, make sure you book through a third party. The hotel itself will charge around 4 times as much as they will.

Twice as much money. Half as much fun. I have stayed at this hotel regularly since 2004. My most recent experience has been most disappointing. Gone is the free mini bar. The room rate is 40% higher. For dog lovers notwithstanding the premium we paid for our dog there was no bed provided, no water and no doggie treat (these used to be part of the package). our room was not available when we arrived which was fair enough as check in time is 2pm. We left our belongings and car assuming it would be looked after. Our car was left unlocked in the street with my wife’s mobile phone in the centre console. When we came back at 2.30 pm still no room. This was my favorite hotel but is not what it used to be. There are better options elsewhere for the price.

Beg, borrow, or steal to get one of the lofted suites at Ovolo Woolloomooloo—they are seriously cool. Airy, stylish, and packed with plenty of hip design touches, these suites even come with 1.5 baths (because who doesn’t need that in a hotel room?). Storage is fantastic, with two closets and a plethora of hangers, so even over-packers are covered. The hotel oozes cool factor, from the modern decor to the unbeatable location—plenty of nightlife and great restaurants within walking distance. Plus, you get front-row seats to watch a Bond villain (or at least someone who looks the part) take his boat Prometheus out to the bay to do evil. A couple of pro tips: the rooms can run warm, so don’t just lower the thermostat—make sure the AC is actually on. And don’t miss the free self-serve candy bar at the elevator, which makes returning to your room a literal treat. Valet parking was a breeze—at least, I assume so, since I never actually saw the valet. I just handed my rental car keys to the friendly front desk staff, and it magically reappeared when needed. Overall, an excellent stay with friendly and accommodating service. Highly recommended, especially if you can snag one of those lofted suites!

Customer service was second to none. All staff were courteous, friendly, very helpful and a delight to deal with. We forgot one of our chargers and they were more than happy to post the item to us. We were very surprised by the service, honesty, top notch staff across the board from room staff to receptionists etc.

Horrific. So. Much. Noise. The floor was shaking. There was a wedding in the function room when we stayed. We got no warning other than a note slipped under the door after we checked in saying we could have a free drink in the bar because there was an event on, and there would be free earplugs at the bar. We had been to a wedding at elsewhere and this one was still in full swing when we got back to the hotel. And yet the hotel bar was shut and we were ignored when we tried to reclaim our drink. If you want to be peripherally involved in someone else’s wedding all night, then feel free to stay here. Like seriously so loud that we might as well have been there. Horrendous.
