Very welcoming and easy to check in - with secure parking directly under hotel for 24hrs per overnight stay and internal direct lift access - excellent! Room was huge which I love. Is old style so quite dimly lit but “marble” bathroom also a very large space with excellent shower and separate bath … and lots of mirrors…So quiet and fabulous location for my needs.

Step back in time when you stay at this hotel. Great size rooms with all the amenities that you need. In an awesome location. Short walk to the Opera House, Circular Quay, Botanical Gardens n more. Staff are very nice and friendly. We had breakfast included n it had a good variety. The only negatives were; $5 tray fee for room service, couldn’t use cash to pay for anything, bar/restaurant closed at 9pm, room service menu didn’t have a good variety of food or drinks (looking for a late night snack whilst in the room), had to pay extra for a cup of coffee at breakfast (instant coffee/tea included in breakfast price). Although there were some negatives, I would stay here again.

Where do I start - remember the Addams Family tv series? If you do, mix in your nan and pops old house from the 50s, with the Haunted Mansion movie, and that’s about right. First the positive….great parking included in the package, staff were nice, and the view from our room was stunning….opera house and bridge looked beautiful. Now the awful parts….the place smells damp and there is mould on ceilings and doors. No airflow at all and this is a real health hazard. It needs a clean even the carpets are dirty and the wallpaper is peeling off the walls. Secondly when I used the rooms kettle the light dimmed….the power sockets are old and for that to happen is dangerous. Again the room smelt damp and mouldy. Using the gym was okay but almost all the cardio equipment is broken, and the saunas are out of order and have been for a while. It’s not a gym so much as a repair room for fitness equipment. Breakfast was included in our package……unfortunately. Standard fair, pastries, cooked items and meats etc. The scrambled eggs were terrible, tasted very sickly and way too rich. The mushrooms were supposed to be fried….how on earth a chef could stuff those up I don’t know but they were mush. Utter slop and tasted tinned. Ended up having hard boiled eggs and salmon which was okay. I tried the cereal but even that tasted old and musty. Staff were nice enough but not many of them around, and a couple of times someone could have offered to help with bags but that never happened. And noting the responses to the reviews on here. Clearly whoever responds doesn’t give two hoots, as there is no attempt to reach out to customers and discuss concerns. Overall this is a smelly, mouldy hotel that has seen better days. It is not worth the cost even with the inclusions. Staying down the road at the modern Pullman may cost more but you get what you pay for. If you want a haunted weekend with respiratory illness then go for it. This place isn’t worth the money at all.

This is not a five star hotel. However we did get upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the harbour Bridge, so that was nice. There were no blankets in the rooms so we were cold. There were stains all over the carpet. The breakfast reminds me of a hostel, just toast, watery eggs, baked beans and potatoes, yoghurt. We chose a 5 star hotel assuming the breakfast would be the best part.

A quality hotel, exquisite decor, Victorian era interior and furniture, with large rooms, extremely comfortable king beds, a clean bathroom and shower, which was conveniently located to Circular Quay. Staff (Reception and Concierge) were very helpful.
