Unfortunately my beloved Intercontinental has quite a problem on their hands. I booked my three night stay December 14-17 through Hotels.com and there was no mention of any major construction or noise. The first morning I was woken by jackhammering shaking my room and very loud noise. I went downstairs and spoke with front desk girl who offered a different room (available later in the day) that would be further away from the construction. Initially I accepted and then realized I would be leaving early in the morning both days and had already unpacked all of my things. Let me also note that the room I was offered, room 433 was a “special offer upgrade” of only 100 more because I was IHG. If anything this room should be unavailable as the balcony is practically in a construction zone! Management is clearly delusional, or simply looking for a money grab by not communicating that there is MAJOR, LOUD construction on the building next to the hotel AND directly across the street!!!! If you go up to the beautiful pool to relax good luck while hearing the deafening construction noise and loud crane!!!! The experience is ruined as a guest and whoever is in charge over there should attempt leading with honesty and full disclosure. What a major disappointment. I should note, in a quite hysterical manner I was offered complimentary ear plugs!

I really, really, really wanted to love this hotel. The location is genuinely unbeatable, right in the heart of Double Bay, surrounded by amazing shops, restaurants, and bars. It was meant to be a special birthday weekend for me, and my best friend even flew out from California for two kid-free nights. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. The hotel is extremely dated, and the cleanliness was well below standard. We had to request room cleaning several times, and even then, the tables weren’t wiped properly. The bathroom still had a used bar of soap from the previous guest, and there was hair stuck to the shower walls. The biggest letdown was the pool. It was shut down, the main reason we booked this hotel for a hot weekend and then we were asked to leave at 4 p.m. due to a private event, something we were never informed about. Had I known, I definitely wouldn’t have spent $800 a night. While the hotel did offer some IHG points and deducted part of our bar tab as compensation, the stay overall fell far short of expectations. It feels like the property relies solely on its prime location and doesn’t make the effort to deliver a quality experience. Sadly, I won’t be staying here again. There are definitely much better hotel options in Sydney

An absolutely beautiful experience at the InterContinental Double Bay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and easy. The room (including the bathroom!) was larger than a standard hotel room. The real gem though was the rooftop pool with amazing views of the water and the city. This was probably my best hotel experience to date and I would definitely stay here again!

It’s a total shame because I do love this hotel a lot but they take ages to give the holding deposit back. I stayed on December 4th. I didn’t stay long. Didn’t use anything in the mini bar and didn’t order any room service or anything. Didn’t leave a mess. As I was checking out. The lovely lady said that it would take 3-5 business days for my deposit to be sent back into my account. Fast forward. December 17th nearly 2 weeks later. I called and the lady I spoke to said she would pass it onto the accounts team and it’ll now take an additional 7 business days for my deposit to be returned. Over 3 weeks nearly 4 weeks for a deposit to be returned when usually at other hotels it just takes a couple days is ludicrous. Super inconvenient and not impressed and probably won’t stay here again :(

An Unforgettable Evening with Le Petit Chef! My partner and I had the most incredible dining experience at Le Petit Chef at the InterContinental Double Bay. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The concept itself is magical - watching the world’s smallest chef prepare our meal right on the table through the immersive projections was unlike anything we’ve experienced before. It transformed dinner into entertainment and created such a romantic, fun atmosphere. The staff were outstanding - friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. They truly went above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was exceptional, with each course beautifully presented and delicious. The service was impeccable throughout. This is more than just a meal - it’s an experience that creates lasting memories. My partner and I left feeling absolutely delighted. Thank you to the entire team for making our evening truly unforgettable. I cannot recommend this enough for anyone looking for something special, whether it’s a romantic date night or a celebration. Five stars without hesitation
