After deciding to come to Sydney for a couple of days before joining the family for Christmas celebrations we chose to stay here as we hadn't been here for many years. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We were given a room on the top floor that was a good size for 2 nights. As I'm a platinum member we were able to arrange a late check-out of 1PM The staff in Club Sofitel were great to interact with. We enjoyed been able to relax in the lounge between outings. We also enjoyed the food and drinks in the lounge. It would have been nice to have baked beans available, but they weren't really missed. All the other staff we talked to were friendly and helpful. The only minor problem was when we arrived the man who directed me to the parking didn't mention getting the ticket validated. I found out the next morning when I asked at the desk about whether I paid the parking station direct or the hotel.

Last year, I visited to celebrate some achievements with a friend, and we decided to try the tomahawk steak at their restaurant. It was incredibly tasty! My advice would be to pre-order because otherwise, you might end up waiting over an hour to enjoy this delicious steak. Overall, we were really pleased with the ambiance and the service too. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.

Easy check-in process. Room upgraded, as part of my ALL gold status, which was nice. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable but a bit too soft for my liking. Buffet breakfast was nice with a good selection of items on offer. Location is good and close to Circular Quay.

Disappointing and feeling ripped off. Paid 5 star money for 3 star experience. There was blood in the architrave of the bathroom from a previous guest. The ladies toilet on level 3 has cockroaches. The concierge were absent upon arrival, another guest showed us where to check in. Buffet room was disorganised, no glasses for juice, no juice, staff seemed flustered/disorganised and disinterested in helping. Other guests were also frustrated. It was like being at Fawlty Towers! Complimentary cocktails- LOL-The Soirée guest cocktail is very limited- you can have a beer or 1 of 3 “cocktails”. Snacks on display, ah ha, but not available to everyone, but staff did not explain arrangement and some people just walked by and grabbed some but apparently only for club members. Staff didn’t even know who was a club member. Idea: don’t have them there if not avail for ALL your guests. Room was noisy, could hear guest above us stomping about, child next door crying most of night. View of construction site isn’t appealing at all. The bath has been painted to make it look “fresh”, except the paint is peeling off and it looks cheap and like a 1970’s motel makeover by a poor uncle. Bath tap loose and faced the ceiling rather than the bath. To access the shower, you need to step UP and INTO the bath but the bath is SO high, it’s dangerous to climb over to access over bath shower- not advertised as such. Smart TV is not really smart- you can only stream from your own device, no Netflix/Foxtel, no USB phone charging port in room. You know that feeling when you visit an elderly relative and ask to watch YouTube on their TV and they stare at you with a blank look and say “oh my telly only has the main channels”, that’s the same TV at the Wentworth! Overall the hotel is very tired and it would have been better if we stayed elsewhere that was actually 5 star. See photos of the worn out chair and the “city view” of the construction site! Really disappointing. You advertise “enhancements” being underway but you don’t mention “total renovation and no gym available” until AFTER bookings have been made. False advertising and misrepresentation. Honestly, we’ve stayed in BnB’s and 3 star places that have better facilities. Having stayed at other Sofitel hotels, we’re surprised how you can even be affiliated. Sofitel Melbourne is luxurious in every aspect, the Wentworth is underwhelming and should be avoided. No we didn’t report this to management because it seemed we weren’t the only ones having concerns with their over priced awful rooms and hotel experience. I feel like the staff have just given up and they know that Accor are trying to pass off a pig’s ear as a velvet purse.

Service was friendly but lacking attention to detail. Room was very small and looking extremely tired. Breakfast was good and offered lots of variety. Extremely disappointed with the dinners we had at The Garden Court Restaurant. Also, for a five star hotel you would expect it to have a gym and swimming pool. This was not good value and we felt they were trying to make as much money before they closed for the refit! Really hope standards improve after the refurbishment.
