5 out of 5 experience! | highly recommend, sooo much to do inside the Australian National Maritime Museum. I went on submarine, old pirate ship and couple other ships. The inside of the museum had wildlife photography of the year and it definitely a must to see. You would think your spending only 30min or maybe and hour instead to see everything 4 to 5 hours. Definitely worth the money!

HMAS on slow, HMAS vampire, Krait, pirates ship were the highlights. We can visit these real ships which were used in war now retired. Caretakers are elderly gentleman who are kind n explain sincerely. Great.. Submarine was interesting and the entry was narrow, big guys find it difficult but its worth visiting.. one place sealing was extremely low and we have to crawl, interesting.. Pirate ship was full of interesting things, anchor was huge and awesome.. you can take 100s of pictures here.. easily 4 hrs it took. Small museum also inside. Best part is number locker kept for keeping our luggage. Being a tourist I had to carry big bags and i kept everything here and enjoyed the museum.. good idea.. kids play table was there to allow them to construct different shapes.. Appreciate the thought.. Overall i had a great experience n you will also get the same..

Spent an interesting few hours here. The destroyer was very accessible but the submarine was a challenge to see especially for people who aren't very mobile or don't like confined spaces!

A great museum in the middle of Darling Harbour to visit with kids. Going on the ships is an awesome experience - a submarine, a destroyer and a tall ship - volunteers are so helpful to guide and share the knowledge. I admire their dedication and passion, and willingness to contribute their free time to the community. During our last visit we had a particular highlight thanks to Andrew who was volunteering in the workshop - he explained and showed my girls how to make a rope using an old rope making machine and let them spin the handle - very special and memorable! The other volunteers on the ship were so knowledgeable (and very patient with us too!), I personally learnt a few new things - and mind you, it was my visit #10 or so. We've been museum family members for a few years now and it's totally worth it: you could always bring a BFF of your child for free, get a discount at car park nearby and their Ripples cafe. They used to have activities area "kids on the deck" which was awesome but last time we came the space was used for private birthday parties. Well, we eavesdropped a bit while we were on the ship - and the museum birthday party host (dressed up as a pirate) was very entertaining and teaching kids some history too - which was really interesting and nice (kids were so engaged and I found it quite amusing too). I wonder if the museum could offer such activities as add-on - not a birthday package when the birthday child's parents pay the bill but when you can book it yourself in a group tour - I would definitely sign up for this. There is so much to see and explore, we usually run out of time to finish all the galleries, so it's better to come as early as you can.
