Absolutely loved our stay, best hotel we’ve stayed in Sydney so far, we didn’t want to leave, can’t wait to go back. Horizon club was great. Views were incredible. Staff were absolutely amazing. Pool was a tad cold but still great. Height restrictions for hot tub/spa was a bit difficult for families with smaller kids (like us) but wasn’t a deal breaker. Great location, although a bit of a hill/stairs to climb, but good workout. I do think the staff really made it feel like home. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Very spacious rooms, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Beautiful bathroom and amenities. The entire hotel has a luxurious feel and it’s located in a very beautiful and historic area right in the city. Overall the service was very good and there were several moments where I was made to feel like a special guest. Very pleased to have joined the loyalty program as I will be staying again.

Only reviewing the blue bar at present. Lovely view but poor service. Watched 2 people leave after waiting over 5 minutes with no service. We had to go and find someone to re order and clear table. After this the service did improve but still not great when paying premium prices. Hotel/room Do have to mention a few disappointments with the room. Only 1x body wash, shampoo etc supplied and only 2 sugars. Hopefully this will change during the rest of our stay Did get extra 2 sugars on one day but then back to 2 for remaining stay. Had to call reception for spoon to stir coffee. Staff very friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was great with an amazing selection of foods. Will stay again.

Getting to the hotel was exhausting, and the transportation situation was terrible. The check-in process was a mess—I had to waste an extra 40 minutes just to switch rooms. I booked through FHR, but the treatment was no different from that of package tour guests. In the end, I paid over $130 for an upgrade, and while the view was great, the windows were filthy. Since the view was the only reason I chose this hotel, I had no choice but to pay for the upgrade. No early check-in, no complimentary upgrade—nothing. The only thing worth mentioning was the steak at Altitude. This hotel is nowhere near a 5-star standard. If you’re only looking for a cheap place with a view, then go for it—otherwise, stay away. —————————rep to your answer Don’t call it an “Opera View”—it’s more accurate to say it’s a view of the Four Seasons building. When I visited the hotel in the morning, I was told that I would receive a text or email once my room was ready. However, when I returned around 2:40 PM, I was informed that the room was still not ready and was asked to come back later. While waiting in the lobby, I noticed that a group of guests who arrived after me were already receiving their room keys. When I went back to the desk around 3 PM to ask again, it felt like they simply handed me whatever room was available at that moment. I never received any text or email before I visited at your staff.. And if my assigned room had been truly prepared in advance, my luggage—which I had left with the hotel in the morning—would have already been placed in the room. Would it be fair to say they were unwilling to provide anything that wasn’t guaranteed? By the way, the older gentleman who helped with my luggage was very kind and even engaged in some small talk.

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I arrived at Shangri-La Sydney expecting a smooth, professional stay, but instead I was met with confusing and unacceptable policies. Upon check-in, I was told I had to leave a deposit, which they claimed would be refunded after three to four weeks — an unreasonably long time. When I asked if I could pay the deposit in cash instead, they agreed, but asked for four times the amount in cash, which I reluctantly agreed to. Later that night, I ordered dinner through Room Dining and asked to pay by card. They refused, saying they would charge it to the deposit. I insisted on paying by card, but they told me there was no card machine available at that moment. Only after I got angry and asked for the manager did they “find” a way to borrow a card machine from somewhere else. I was so disappointed by the lack of professionalism and flexibility that I decided to check out the same night. I had originally booked for three nights, and to this day, I have not received a refund for the remaining two nights. For a hotel that claims to be 5-star, this was a total letdown. I will never stay here again and strongly advise others to reconsider.
