Highly recommend this resort. Staff were all amazing, from first booking, reception to grounds staff and restaurant. So accommodating and friendly. Super responsive and attentive. Rooms are great, we stayed in a poolside villa and the aircon was great with the heat, large bathroom with laundry facilities, bed was comfortable and full sized fridge and outdoor kitchen. Pool was very large and shaded, which is a must in Darwin. Always felt safe, and buildings are not run down which has been mentioned in a previous review from someone. We had an amazing experience here and would recommend this resort to anyone. Added bonus - dinner and breakfast were really good. Barramundi was the best we have ever had! Thank you so much to all the staff at Club Tropical, special mention to Kylie on reception, Sam who served us at dinner and the amazing waitress for breakfast, and the night security guard whose names we didn't get. Absolutely loved our stay here. Due to travelling a long distance, we decided to take a few nights in Darwin to recalibrate and have a look around. Unfortunately for us, our rig had issues with its brakes, however - fortunately this occurred while we were staying here. The resort was super accommodating, the aircon is cold, the pool is lovely and the staff in the restaurant (as well as the food and drink) were all really wonderful. Even the security here were really welcoming and friendly. We would highly recommend staying here if you are in Darwin!

I am deeply disappointed with the treatment we received during our recent stay at this hotel. The staff member, whom I believe is a receptionist appeared to show favoritism and acted in a discriminatory manner toward our group. A certain guest, who was being overly dramatic, complained to the reception, claiming that we were being noisy at around 8:30 p.m. When that staff member came to check, she even said that we were not noisy at all. We were simply chatting in a low voice and enjoying our family time together. However, later on, we were suddenly told to leave because, according to them, it’s not allowed for 15 people to gather together. This situation felt very unfair. We had booked seven rooms, and we are one family who only wanted to celebrate and spend time together. This is not the first time we have stayed in this hotel for a family event, but this is the first time we have ever experienced such treatment — all because of one dramatic complaint. It was also unreasonable for that guest to have heard us if they were inside their closed room. We even tested it ourselves and confirmed that our voices couldn’t be heard from outside. What made this experience even more upsetting was the feeling that we were treated differently because we are Asians. That receptionists was rude and made us feel uncomfortable by emphasizing that “what she was saying was in English,” which came across as racist and disrespectful. But in fairness to the manager, he was fair, calm, and understanding throughout the situation — completely unlike the receptionist’s rude and unprofessional behavior. We felt discriminated against, disrespected, and unfairly singled out despite being loyal guests who have stayed here multiple times before. I truly hope the hotel management takes this matter seriously and ensures that all guests — regardless of race or background — are treated with fairness, respect, and equality at all times.

This resort was one of my favourite resorts to stay in when I needed time away from home. However, during one of my stays here, my family and I were celebrating a birthday together in one room. we were outside just eating, chatting, and playing very LOW music. A staff member had come over in the early afternoon to explain that a neighbour of ours had complained about the music, but the staff member was explained that the volume was actually at a perfect level. He said that it wasn’t loud at all, but just to make sure to maintain that volume. He was very nice, and we complied respectfully and just continued with chatting. However, throughout the stay, we were once again being reprimanded for our volume. Which was odd because we had turned it down, and it was getting dark so we had mellowed out. At one point, we even went inside and checked if we could be heard from inside (where our neighbour was complaining about us from). We could not. But still, we chose to be quiet and go inside. Once again, a staff member and manager came over to talk to us about the SAME neighbour complaining. We began to wonder if it was racially motivated, but didn’t want to come to that conlusion immediately. The manager told us we weren’t being noisy AT ALL, but asked us to separate ourselves BECAUSE the neighbour kept complaining (which I feel should have been taken up with them as well and was just unfair considering we were there to enjoy ourselves). The manager was very nice and mediated the situation well, but the receptionist continuously spoke to us in simplified terms as if we couldn’t understand english? It all felt very belittling and odd. Overall, we ended up having a frustrating argument with the staff which was very disappointing because we regularly visit this place and had no issues prior. Be careful of people like this during your stay. I understand the staff was not at fault whatsoever, but this was handled very poorly and we were the only ones being reprimanded for it.

My family and I booked 7 rooms at one of our favorite resort hotels last Saturday, October 18, 2025. This resort has always been one of our go-to destinations because of its relaxing atmosphere and warm hospitality. We have stayed here several times before - in fact this was our fourth visit. Unfortunately, this recent stay turned out to be the most disappointing experience we've ever had, due to an unpleasant encounter with one of the staff members, whom i believe was the receptionist. The issue began with what we felt was an unreasonable complaint from another guest, which the receptionist unfortunately sided with. When our family gathered together, we had some music playing at a moderate volume. We were unaware that anyone had raised a concern until one of the staff members came over to inform us. That staff member even mentioned that the music was not loud and simply advised us to keep it at the same level, which we respectfully followed. Around 9:00 pm, while we were quietly chatting as a family, the receptionist approached us again, stating that the same guest had complained once more. We found this surprising, as it seemed impossible for anyone inside their closed room to hear our normal conversation. While we would have understood if she had handled the matter appropriately, the way she approached us was unprofessional and unnecessary. She asked us to return to our rooms, even though she herself had previously acknowledged that we were not being loud. To avoid further misunderstanding, we decided to continue our conversation quietly inside one of our rooms, where it was clearly impossible for anyone in the next room to hear us. However, the receptionist returned again - this time with the manager. In fairness, the manager handled the situation calmy and professionally, and we truly appreciated his understanding. The receptionist, on the other hand, was rude and argumentative, even stepping into our room and speaking to us in a disrespectful manner. What made the situation worse was when she emphasized that she had spoken to us earlier "in English" which felt discriminatory and completely unnecessary. Although the manager managed to de-escalate the situation, the entire experience left us very disappointed, especially coming from a resort we have always loved and frequently returned to. We wanted to share this feedback not to criticize, but in the hope that appropriate action can be taken to ensure that no other guests have a similar experience in the future. We hope that this matter will be looked into seriously.
