The staff at reception are generally friendly and do their best to make the stay comfortable. The rooms are pretty spacious, which is a nice plus. However, housekeeping needs serious improvement. Rooms are often not cleaned properly - tables and benches left dirty, bathrooms not up to standard and occasionally questionable bedding more often than it should be. Cleanliness can be hit or miss, and unfortunately, it seems to have gotten worse over the past year. The bathtubs also don’t drain very well at times, which can be frustrating. Items left behind no longer seem to be recovered, which wasn’t the case in the past. Management should consider closely monitoring the housekeeping team to ensure better consistency. Overall, it’s not a bad hotel, but there’s definitely room for huge improvement.

Cleaning rooms was terrible. 2 people 9n our room and they gave us one towel. Safe is at floor level and requires a key from somewhere No cupboards in room. But found a front opening box. See photo. Aircon is either on or off and no duvet provided. Only a sheet and one blanket. Tv connection to internet not working and phoning for technician was told hotel does not guarantee smart tv connection. Cleaner could not be bothered to wipe tabe or clean glasses. After complaining technician came after 5 mins and fixed it. There is no option for leaving a sign on door for do not disturb Towels for pool are very threads Hotel needs to learn more about customer service Only saving grace is food is quite good and most but not all. Staff are helpful Clearly the hotel seems to be trying to cut costs wherever they can. I used to travel over 300 days a year and can recognize when a hotel is not good. Management are welcome to contact me to discuss these failings Buffet Breakfast is 6.30 to 9.30 including weekends. Coming down at 8.45, spent more time waiting for food than eating it. Kept hearing " it is coming" with people getting fed up. Excuse was they only had one chef. Having read the excuses I now wonder how management will defend mould in bath rim and on ceiling as per pictures

Rydges Cairns is a fantastic hotel. Very spacious, neat n clean. The hotel is located walking dustance from city centre but on a dry humid day even that looks far. Ample covered and uncovered parking is available. For tourists like me, The Esplanade is close by. Set that as search in Google maps. The place looks gold class after sunset.

We stay in Cairns and surrounding areas very often and do not stay in the ‘glamorous hotels’ however the Rydges Esplanade fell well short of acceptable quality in both cleanliness and general upkeep. The rooms are very outdated, the amenities are outdated, the cleanliness was abysmal and the hotels is in disrepair with basic maintenance not carried out. I have many photos and since leaving the resort find them even more shocking! The Good: The hotel has a great view - uninterrupted views of the sea and of the hills and the location on the esplanade is ok with a 15 minute walk to the busier end.

Cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. It’s very dated, the bedding is horrible, 2 towels in a 4 person room etc but clean. The pool is nice but the food was terrible and so were the cocktails. I have an issue when you charge the same prices at your restaurant/bar as the good hotels when you’re a 2 star establishment. We won’t be back
