Stayed for 3 nights here through the Jetstar holiday package. The entrance was a bit confusing, but we found it at the end ( we had to walk around the block to find the entrance 🙈 ) We were greeted by a very nice lady staff ( all the staff were friendly and welcoming ). Checking in was smooth and quick, and we were offered an upgrade to ocean view from mountain view. We loved it! The room was clean, and the view was magic!! One thing it would make it perfect was if they had a basic kitchenette included, such as a couple of plates and cutlery and may be a small toaster. Other than that, everything else is perfect. Beautiful walking on the esplanade just across the road, Muddy Cafe and Bagus Cafe are highly recommended while you are in the area, just across the road from the hotel. We loved our little getaway! We highly recommend this😊👍

Location and view are the only positive. Room was an incredible disappointment. Nothing supplied. No kettle no glasses no soap to wash my hands no shower cap no moisturiser. The shower was old and hopeless water temp which was hot cold hot old. Bed had only a sheet no blanket. The blanket in the cupboard was smelly and itchy so I didn't use it. The pillows were very flat so I pilled up 3 of them. There is no sound proofing and so I barely slept with all the noise of the other guests which is no fault of the guests since the hotel needs better sound proofing. The bathroom was no overly clean. The room service is expensive and comes with cardboard cutlery so you cant use it and have to eat with your fingers. Only 1 lift usable which took a very long time. Lots of other maintenance and the staff did not help the guests to navigate all the changes. It was a pretty miserable stay.

The room was a good size with updated decor. The coffee table had water damage to the top and the lounge had some weird bleach mark on it. This affected the overall appearance of the room. The bathroom was really old with a window that doesn’t close. This constantly let hot air in from outside. We had to keep the door closed to stop the hot air flowing through the room. To make it worse, the air conditioning wasn’t functioning properly. We couldn’t get it below 24.2 degrees Celsius. This was reported to management who said they would get it fixed which didn’t happen. The heat in the room was so uncomfortable we had constantly disturbed slept. As an apology management gave us a free breakfast on our last day. The breakfast usual cost is $35, which we thought over priced for what was on offer. The food was also really average. The extent of the mini bar was tea and coffee. The tea tasted revolting, I suspect it was stale. There wasn’t even a complimentary bottle of water in the fridge. The hotel was in a good location about a 10 minute walk to the city. Unfortunately, it was also located next to a construction site which also impacted on our sleep. One night when we came back to the room there were cockroaches running across the floor and under the cupboard door. We managed to squash one. We couldn’t find were the rest went. Our stay at Rydges was very disappointing.

We have stayed here a few times and have to say it has always been a fantastic weekend getaway for us. Being located at the end of the Esplanade is wonderful as you are very close to all the restaurants and activities available without all the noise. The staff are lovely and greet you with a smile every time. The restaurant is very reasonably priced and great quality food - don't forget dessert. We have been considering holding a function and the Functions Manager Michelle has been absolutely wonderful with great customer service and a true interest in making sure it is a successful event.

Stayed here for a week for biz in Feb 2024, what can I say, the location is great, along with views, but using the word dated wouldn't give our English langue service! The service from most staff is great, the restaurant food is really nice, along with the bar service, but the place is So dated, old & in need of a massive overhaul to bring it into the 21st century. The bathrooms (shower over bath (yuk), has a shower curtain, not telling how old it is? Surprising the bed is comfy. Parking is a joke @ $15 per day, which is just over the top, one would think the money there getting out of that goldmine there'd put into updating floor by floor? I wouldn't stay there again, even for the views, but would eat there anytime!!!
