The staff are friendly and welcoming, the beds are comfortable, water pressure is great and the room felt clean. The location is excellent with pubs, restaurants and the stadium within walking distance. However the bathrooms are really dark and the place feels like things are starting to turn a bit shabby. I could hear my room-neighbours crashing around and the room smelled like fried food. This got especially bad in the mornings - I’m not sure if there was a kitchen fan exhaust near the air conditioner intake but it was evident and unpleasant.

This hotel is in a great location with many restaurants in walking distance. We stayed for 10 days and decided after arriving to upgrade to a slightly larger room that had a sofa. When we checked in, Jacqui was working and took wonderful care of us, making sure we had what we needed and made us feel welcome and at home. The room itself was very nice with a wonderful view, the pool was clean and nice, laundry area was clean with free use of the washers and dryer, but overall the hotel could use a little updating, mainly obvious in the lifts. The breakfast area was nice and well stocked, but it would have been nice if the restaurant was open evenings also. While we were there, any time we needed something, we tried to ask Jacqui as she was always helpful and friendly. There was an older woman with dark hair and glasses who worked the check in desk, and she wouldn't even look up when we walked past. We tried to speak to her as we were coming or going and either got no response or just a small nod. She was really the only negative experience we had with any of the employees there, as everyone else was friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there the next time I am in Townsville.

Ok so the rooms are older but have been renovated nicely. I had a great Samsung TV in my room which was easy to watch in bed. Upon arrival I was met by a very nice lady who checked me in quickly and efficiently. The underground carparking was good and I got a space both times without any hassle. I had brekky on one of the two days I stayed there which was nice and as good as any buffet brekky elsewhere. The best bit of this hotel is its location. On a lovely strip of restuarants and eateries and night one she gave me a charge back voucher to the pub next door. Night two I went to another place which was also just as good. Check out was easy and overall I enjoyed my stay here and would go back next time I am in town.

The bathrooms are really dated and difficult to use (Taps take 3 turns past closed to stop running, toilet flush jams down, shower still has curtain which went out of fashion many years ago), but having said that, the hotel is really nice and I still give 5 stars because they do really well with what the offer. Only stayed 1 night but we enjoyed the stay and would be back. It was very reasonably priced, nice location, service was excellent and the little touches (Like the choc chip cookies in reception), were appreciated. Also a nice pool area.

Attended a wedding function here last weekend. The wedding itself was simply delightful. The staff running the venue were kind, bubbly and provided such a great atmosphere. The next morning I dined in the breakfast buffet - I could not believe the bang for my buck. Affordable and high quality, would come back in a heartbeat.
