The bathrooms are really dated and difficult to use (Taps take 3 turns past closed to stop running, toilet flush jams down, shower still has curtain which went out of fashion many years ago), but having said that, the hotel is really nice and I still give 5 stars because they do really well with what the offer. Only stayed 1 night but we enjoyed the stay and would be back. It was very reasonably priced, nice location, service was excellent and the little touches (Like the choc chip cookies in reception), were appreciated. Also a nice pool area.

This hotel is in a great location with many restaurants in walking distance. We stayed for 10 days and decided after arriving to upgrade to a slightly larger room that had a sofa. When we checked in, Jacqui was working and took wonderful care of us, making sure we had what we needed and made us feel welcome and at home. The room itself was very nice with a wonderful view, the pool was clean and nice, laundry area was clean with free use of the washers and dryer, but overall the hotel could use a little updating, mainly obvious in the lifts. The breakfast area was nice and well stocked, but it would have been nice if the restaurant was open evenings also. While we were there, any time we needed something, we tried to ask Jacqui as she was always helpful and friendly. There was an older woman with dark hair and glasses who worked the check in desk, and she wouldn't even look up when we walked past. We tried to speak to her as we were coming or going and either got no response or just a small nod. She was really the only negative experience we had with any of the employees there, as everyone else was friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there the next time I am in Townsville.

The room was very clean almost immaculate well maintained quite modern regarding interior design that felt spacious & welcoming for an older hotel the most comfortable beds I reckon suitable for any length of stay. The complementary breakfast had incredible variety, staff wore friendly and quite helpful. Location was convenient close to bars, restaurants as well close to the stadium & marina if wanting to head over to magnetic island by ferry less than 4 Mins out can't recommend it more.

We recently stayed at the Ridge Hotel and had a mixed experience. The staff at the front desk were absolutely amazing—friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay for a day. The location was okay, not particularly remarkable but convenient enough for getting around. Unfortunately, the interior of the hotel felt very old and tired, desperately in need of renovation. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. Dust had built up everywhere, and it was clear that proper cleaning standards are not being maintained. I would rate the cleaning just 1 star. We didn't stay in the hotel itself, but the Rydges apartments across the street. The apartment itself was quite decent, spacious, clean, with all needed appliances. I loved the bathroom, huge mirror & shower space. The aircon worked great. Plenty of cupboard storage space. The beds were soooo comfortable! The downsides were- the view itself was terrible. We were at the back of the apartments, with a balcony but it was filthy , the whole balcony & outside tables were covered in gecko poo, (I don't think anyone's ever actually been entailed too clean outside, but the hotel should think about it) with a perfect view of someone's backyard & and empty overgrown lot right next door, you could Just see the top of Castle Hill tho, which was okay. Downside number 2 - the lock for the front door too lock the door from the INSIDE was broken. Thus you could open the door from the inside of the apartment- which is Exactly what my toddler did on morning two of our stay. Once opening the unlocked door from inside of the apartment, my toddler then got out into the lobby, the door shutting behind her- successfully locking herself out as she didn't have the key to get back in. She was stuck out there, terrified, until her cries woke her dad and I up. We did inform the hotel reception afterwards they needed a lock -preferably a chain lock- for the inside of the apartment (which is then, when the told us it did lock, which confused us, as we couldn't lock the door and had tried too the day before & DID try again when we got back to our room) then discovering that, yes, it WAS a lock on the back of the door has they had said but it was broken & didn't lock. An unfortunate circumstance. We ended up getting a chock off the cleaners to use as temp lock. The apartment comes with its own car park assigned to your apartment room & a small pool (for adults I guess certain things could be better about the pool but for a toddler, they had no complaints about the pool and would spend the entire day there if we let them.) The breakfast Buffett was great. We really enjoyed the food. I honestly can't say weather or not we would book again. Who knows...It wasn't the Best hotel experience for a holiday but it certainly wasn't the Worst either.
