Reviews for Oaks Port Douglas Resort

Great experience all round. The apartment was clean and well appointed with pool views. Quiet at night for restful sleep after jam-packed days. Nice pool and bar with cocktails. A short drive away from the busy end of Port douglas. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff were excellent. Pool is large with a swim up bar. Plenty of shallow areas for kids as it winds around. Rooms are clean..but a little dated. Doors not sliding properly etc...but furniture and bed was comfortable. Kitchenette didn't have many utensils...so good for simple food only. It's a large property so a bit of walking is required from car to room(depending on where your room is...ours was opposite end to the car park). There is a walking track into town which we used every day. It's a bit of a walk. It's a pity they didn't have bikes to use. We had pizzas one night and they were very good. Didn't use the restaurant or have breakfast there. My only hesitation in returning is the distance from town. But I did like the pool.

Such a great place overall, and the pool is perfect for all ages and demographics. The swim up bar staff were swift and attentive as well. The only downside we had was that the bed was so stiff and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sleep in after a long day.

Stayed for one night in one of the Hibiscus rooms, great value for money. Huge rooms, clean, modern furnishings, 2 TVs, and washer and dryer. Pool is lovely, the whole resort is relaxing. Great for families. Highly recommend.

Generally the resort was good. We loved the ambience and layout, especially the lilypad area. However, they are not really disability friendly. There are ramps etc to the main areas but no lifts and they don't guarantee a ground floor room upon request even if you have mobility issues. We had to fight hard for a ground floor room only to have the shower inside a bath tub which caused more access issues. There was no access to food and drinks between the hours of 9.30am and 12pm or 3pm and 5pm so don't expect a morning or afternoon coffee. Housekeeping was random, you never knew if it would get done or not, and it was always done late afternoon so don't aim for a rest after a busy day or it will never get done. The staff were great, very personable. The restaurant was pretty good, the food quality was excellent but you could only get pizza 3 nights of the week so eating away from the resort is the only option. They also had very rich, alternative type meals so didn't really cater for people with simple tastes. All in all it was reasonable if you were happy to eat out most days and we're able bodied.
