This was our third time staying at Kingfisher Bay Resort, and over the last few years we’ve stayed in different types of accommodation — rooms and two different villa styles — and have always found them great: comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The staff are consistently lovely, the facilities are fantastic, and there’s always so much on offer. We love the restaurants, the Sunset Bar, the tennis courts, the pool, and the evening light show — it’s always such a wonderful experience overall. Unfortunately, our final night this trip didn’t end on quite the same high note due to our experience at the Dune Restaurant. Our server wasn’t particularly attentive or engaged. To start, when we tried to order a beer on tap, we were told simply that we “could not get a beer on tap.” This struck us as odd, as we’ve dined here before and always been able to, and we could even see other guests with pints they’d brought from the Rainforest Bar. When I checked directly with the bar, I was told the tap was working fine and that the waiter was likely operating off old information of an earlier ‘issue’. However, at no point did the waiter mention there was an issue with the tap — had that been explained, or had he checked with the bar himself, we would have completely understood. Unfortunately, there was no clarification or follow-up, (I had to check with the bar myself, and find out we could in fact, get a beer on tap) and he didn’t return to check on us or take any further drink orders throughout the meal. Another disappointment was that I ordered the prawn sui mai but was served pork instead. This wasn’t realised when the food was brought out and I only realised after eating some — quite an unpleasant surprise as I’ve been vegetarian for over five years. It was an unfortunate final dining experience after an otherwise faultless stay. Despite this, we still absolutely love Kingfisher Bay Resort and will no doubt return again in the future — everything else was, as always, wonderful.

I had an amazing stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I want to give a special mention to Stefanus at the reception — he was super friendly and explained all the facilities clearly, which made my stay even better. The location is absolutely beautiful — peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for a getaway. Highly recommend this resort for anyone visiting this Island!

3 star experience at 5 star prices. Facilities in rooms not up to date, we had a family resort room and expected facilities to be equivalent to other similarly priced resorts. Instead we found no Smart TV for us to have family movie night etc and phones did not connect to reception. Considering that cost was >$500/ night this did not meet with our expectations. Staff less than interested with this feedback. Positives were that kids loved the pool and buffet breakfast was comprehensive and delicious.

Just had a 3 night stay at one of the villas here. Cannot recommend it enough! Everything was so clean and the staff were fantastic. The beauty spots tour was the highlight of the trip, particularly Peter who made the trip what it was. He had so much knowledge of the island and nature and even taught me so much about the birds on the island as a novice birdwatcher! Lake McKenzie was the most stunning, beautiful clear water to swim in. Will definitely return to see more of the island.

Very overpriced for outdated rooms, mediocre food and poor service. Room was very outdated with uncomfortable mattresses, a damp feeling to the room and an old and poorly functioning bathroom (low water pressure in sink, damaged and small bathtub/shower with shower-curtain). The bathtub also was not cleaned properly (at all?) as had hairs in the bottom of it. Note for anyone with any accessibility needs - it is an extremely long walk to many of the rooms. If you have your bags delivered to your room via porter from the mainland reception be warned - your bags will be left unattended in your room with the door wide open! Anyone could have walked in and grabbed anything?! Made zero sense. Food options were limited and expensive for very average food. Coffee was good but higher prices than you pay in the capital cities? I found a lot of the staff quite rude and abrasive - first at the mainland reception I was spoken to quite abruptly, then the staff at lunch at the sand and wood were really rude to one of our guests about a mistake on the restaurants end. The location is obviously beautiful and the highlight of the resort - however at this price point, there are much better accommodation options in other beach or island locations.
