Delicious pub feed, heart of the city. Steak was tender and well seasoned. Parmy was a great size ,(❤️ not a frozen snitzel ❤️) Chips where golden and hot and salad was nice and fresh . Good selection of beers on tap. Only down side here is the toilet/ bathrooms are dirty, broken toilet seats and have unfortunately been vandalised..

It’s interesting that 3 days ago a Jim Wicked reported that the shorter security guard with glasses at this hotel was on a massive power trip refusing him entry. My wife (who is middle aged) was out with girlfriends tonight for a dinner and departed the Victory hotel having left her phone and glasses inside. Returning just a few minutes after leaving upon realising she had left her phone and glasses, the same security guard on a power trip would not allow my wife to enter the hotel to get her phone and glasses even though they could actually be seen from the doorway. A very reasonable request I would suggest from my wife. The apparent reason for refusing entry seems to be that she may have been cutting the queue to enter as she was not at all intoxicated. She explained that she had left her phone and glasses but the security guard physically prevented her entry and with the help of one of his equally manly associates physically pushed my wife backwards against the doorway when she tried to get past, leaving bruises on her arms and her breasts. This sad excuse of a man called three of his mates to prevent my 45kg wife from retrieving her phone and glasses. Clearly even one of these hard working saviours of the universe could have retrieved her phone and glasses as requested in a matter of seconds and there would have been no issue at all. I hope the management appropriately addresses this behaviour from a so-called security “man” as his actions were both over-reaching and disgusting in the most vile way. I suggest anyone else that is thinking of gracing this place with your hard earned money take it down the road to literally anywhere else. I post this as a warning to others that this is what you can expect, it seems, from the Victory Hotel. The incident was recorded by one of my wife’s friends but I choose not to post it here for the privacy of those involved. I have seen the video and am disgusted by the actions of the security personnel, especially the little man with glasses for whom it seems this is a pattern of his behaviour.

Single male tourist visiting for first time. I didn't know so I unfortunately walked into the other pub over the road first. I lined up there at the bar to get a drink and a meal. About number 19th awaiting to order. One poor bugger trying to do his best behind the bar. I was gona be waiting a while. So I walked out one door, over the road and into another. The V. Had a great meal and a few coldies in less time it would've taken to be served at the St EX. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. And the lovely young lady behind the bar was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Just what we want, an awesome old school Aussie Pub. 😊🍻 Thanks Sarah

Was refused entry by the shorter security with glasses - he was on a massive power trip and has an awful ability to properly sense drunkenness. He initially refused entry to my mate for being "too drunk" and told him to "come back in 30 minutes", despite us both being completely sober. We convinced him that he was sober and he was allowed inside. My mate and I then left after about 25 minutes to try to find his lost debit card, and when we returned I was refused entry because I apparently looked "a lot more drunk" than when I came in earlier - I was only able to get through half a beer whilst inside. This is probably the third instance of this particular security refusing entry to myself or my friends in the past month, and judging from other recent reviews, others have likely had similar experiences. Have been coming here for years and have only recently had this issue.
