Reviews for Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville

We had a fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel in Townsville. The location was excellent—close to the waterfront, restaurants, and everything we wanted to explore. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Awesome pool. Secure parking as well as gated. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with any questions, making us feel at home from check-in to check-out. We also appreciated how quiet the hotel was, making it easy to get a great night's sleep. Overall, the Grand Hotel offered excellent value for money, and we'd happily stay here again on our next visit to Townsville. Highly recommended! And they took the time to make my friend feel very special, as it was her birthday weekend!

I had a very bad experience with this hotel. I booked two rooms with my family (4 persons) in this hotel from 08/07/2026 to 10/07/2026. The rooms were allocated for us on the 9th floor. Unfortunately, during the period of stay we did not feel comfortable due to one of the room Air Conditioner not working properly and the room was really hot. Immediately I informed the reception managers on duty multiple times and initially the manager offered they will check with the maintenance people and after the maintenance people's check, as the issue was still not sorted, they offered an alternate room. But on my inspection, I realized, this room was also in the same situation, the air conditioner unit was not working properly. So, I could not accommodate the alternative and there were no other rooms available those days. Found staff put a pedestal fan on the room instead of the Air Conditioner. Air Conditioner were not working in the corridor as well, really hot. Under these circumstances, me and my family (4 persons) were forced to stay in one room without any other options. Me and my family came from other state to spend our holidays after visiting Cairns. We never experienced any issues like this from any other accommodations in the past. The reason we particularly chose to stay in Hotel Grand Chancellor in Townsville was because our expectation with this hotel was high level. But unfortunately, what we experienced during the stay with this hotel was very uncomfortable and our entire family felt like we spoiled our holiday while we were in Townsville due this hotel accommodation, accommodating 4 persons in one room, it was so congested and suffocating. As a customer and the hotel could not provide me and my family reasonable accommodation as per the level of standard and also, we could not use the room when I contacted the reception staff, they advised me to send an email to escalate this matter to consider with the hotel General Manager to review the case and resolve this issue. I sent an email to the Hotel General Manager Rebecca. I thought as a goodwill, she will consider my request and resolve this matter very seriously. But unfortunately, the General Manager of the hotel was not helpful and completely declined my request. This cause mentally and financially very stressful for me and my family. I strongly do not recommend this hotel anyone in future as I experienced and treated me very badly.

The view from the roof top is spectacular. Pool was heated which was a binus. The hotel needs some TLC. The place feels quite run down. Quite a number of broken items throughout- Main Neon Sign, TV Remote, gym equipment. Rails on balcony were held together by cable ties (pretty sure that's not building code), bottom of shower from was rusted, bathroom door didn't shut properly. The room itself is ok apart from the broken items. Beds are comfy though and the staff were good. Offsite parking can be an interesting walk past some of the locals frequenting the area. Definitely needs a bit of money spent on it

We stayed at this hotel on a Friday night and were lucky enough to have breakfast on the rooftop on Saturday morning. The hotel is perfectly located and very quiet; the staff is really friendly and accommodating a real plus. The view from the room is simply stunning, the rooftop pool is heated, and the restaurant is excellent, we had a wonderful dinner there. I highly recommend it.

We had a lovely over-night stay on Saturday the 31st January, staff were extremely helpful, we checked in at 11.00 am and our room was ready. Fridge was ultra small, no freezer, but it was no problem to ask for ice and it was delivered to our room. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and I used my welcome drink on a barista cappuccino.
