Reviews for Atura Adelaide Airport

Who would've thought Adelaide airport would have a hotel in terminal- wake up Brisbane airport! This hotel is functional- the bare concrete walls and ceilings, MDF furniture shelves bolted to the walls and lead pipe curtain rails are not to my taste. The bed was comfortable and shower was hot and powerful - that's what matters. Perfectly fine for an overnight stay for early morning flight

Had booked a room in advance, told them I would be checking in late due to being out for a family event, they said this was fine. Unfortunately I get there around 3am and my bank is undergoing maintenance until 5am. Unable to transfer money to pay, I offered a cheque, ID, personal information, belongings, credit card information, etc. I explain the banking issue and showed him proof via the bank app. The night employee, claims he doesn’t care and that if I don’t pay he can’t give me a room. Tough but understandable, I ask to stay in the lobby until the bank maintenance is done, at which point less than two hours until I can pay. (it’s raining, windy and cold outside) he says that’s not an option and states if I try to remain he will request police to remove me from the premises. A pretty extreme reaction I think, at this point i have one last resort, call a friend or relative and interrupt their sleep so they can pay for my room until I can pay them back. Extremely embarrassing and humiliating. While I’m doing this the police arrive, yay. They see I’m taking steps to resolve this and leave, the employee is then rude to my relative as they pay over the phone (being treated like crap was bad, but this part really was the worst). I’m then finally allowed a set of room keys, no instructions on which floor I’m on or anything, yay x2. Overall I’d rather the police have given me a cell, would have at least been cheaper.

The convenience of the hotel to the airport is the only reason you’d stay here. We stayed in a snuggy room. “Snuggy” is a euphemism for an expensive cupboard. The bed takes up the entire room. There was no kettle in the room which was very disappointing for a $250 room. Even budget hotels supply a $12 Tiffany Kettle and a tea bag. Given you stay here to catch an early flight there isn’t even a paid coffee machine in the lobby. There was no tv either. Check in is done via a machine. On checkout the staff member asked if we’d taken anything from the mini bar - which was amusing as there wasn’t a fridge in the room.

We had a fantastic stay at Atura! The rooms were spacious, clean, and greatly designed. The only minor concern was that the bedside tables had sharp edges, which could be a safety issue for families with small children. Hopefully something the hotel can consider updating. One of the standout features was the breathtaking view of the airport. Watching planes take off and land from the comfort of my room was surprisingly peaceful and added a unique charm to the experience. Service was excellent, and every staff member I encountered was professional, friendly, and attentive.

Only half this hotel is 4 star. The snuggy rooms are definitely not. There was no welcome when I arrived. The staff was anything but. Fortunately a much nicer check out. I received 8 emails during my short stay badgering me about checking out. This was the night before I was to leave. The hotel is more of a hostel and is very conveniently located. Even so I would never stay there again.
