Nice and free museum to check out while in Adelaide. Don’t compare to larger cities but it’s still a great place to come and explore. Easy to get to and quiet to wander around.

An incredible place to go. It has fantastic stones, fossils, animals and indigenous artefacts, but it’s free! I’ve learned a lot about the Australia history, nature science, ocean, etc. It’s suitable for both adults and children - they won’t feel boring as the display is attractive. It took me more than two hours to check all areas. Actually, it was a bit rush, so I recommend to plan half day.

Wow! We visited the National Geographic Photography Awards and then went on to enjoy the museum. What a brilliant treat as visitors to SA and Adelaide. Great for all ages.

The South Australian Museum is a natural history museum and research institution in Adelaide, honestly i didn’t see the description before going so i got a bit surprised when we arrived to have a visit there’re four floors, all about biodiversity and australian aboriginal life, you will like if you are fans of different animal creatures, quite enjoyable surrounded by many cute animals haa esp kangaroo haa, and we got some fun facts that some animals are almost invisible. Red light does not pass through water as easily as blue light. in the depths of the ocean, animals see by dim blue light, until they go too deep to see any light at all. red animals, like this Velvet Whalefish, reflect only red light. So, in the deep sea, where there is no red light, they are almost invisible. i quite enjoy the session of minerals, displaying many special minerals with different colors, pretty ones South Australian Museum rating of mine: 4.3

Free museum with lots to see spread across 4 floors. Well laid out displays with different sections based on where the animals are from. The gift shop seem to be more targeted towards children rather than adults. No need to book tickets simply turn up
