Excellent lunch experience that started as soon as we paid. Amy( I'm pretty sure I've got that right) was lovely. She is a credit to Charlies Diner. She made my day by stopping past to comment on the great behaviour of the four boys. She made them a paper dinosaur each and myself a paper flower. When she discovered we were there as a birthday treat for my twins she gifted them a kinder chocolate each. The cost for 1 adult and four kids was very reasonable for all you can eat $112.75. The food was delicious as well. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

The venue itself is nice, and Darcie was helpful throughout the planning process, which I appreciated. However, the experience on the day of my 30th was quite disappointing. When we were shown the terrace as our event space, we were told that we would have access to both the terraces outdoor and indoor space, along with our own dedicated bar. But upon arrival, we were informed that the indoor space was booked with Charlie’s Diner patrons until 7:30 pm, despite our event starting at 6:30 pm. While I understand the venue may have had a larger number of diners, this shouldn’t have affected our booking, especially since the event timing was communicated in advance, and Darcie and I had been emailing two weeks prior to the event and no changes were communicated to me. What made it worse was that even after 7:30 pm, when the patrons had left, their dirty dishes, cutlery, and cups were left scattered across the tables. No one came to clean the area for some time, and when my mum asked for the space to be cleared, she was told, “We’ll see if we can get to it.” She had to insist that this response wasn’t acceptable — the space was meant to be ours, and waiting around for it to be cleaned shouldn't have been an option. The bar area, which was supposed to be dedicated solely to our event, quickly became a dumping ground for dirty glasses. Throughout the night, unwashed glasses piled up—sometimes several cups high—making the space look neglected and uninviting. The register my guests were using was meant to be dedicated to my event, but unfortunately, they were also serving Charlie’s Diner guests, which slowed down service significantly. I was disappointed that nothing was done to block off the area or indicate that the space was private for our event. One of my guests even mentioned that, despite being next in line at the bar, they were asked to step aside so a Charlie’s Diner patron could be served first. It was confusing and frustrating, especially since we were paying customers as well — the only difference being that our drinks were on a tab. To make matters worse, the EFTPOS machine wasn’t plugged in, causing delays and making it difficult for people to get drinks. Service was also lacking — there seemed to be only one waitress, and instead of circulating the room with food before placing it on a table (as I was told would happen), the food was just left on a table, leaving my family to distribute it themselves. On top of that, no one came in to clear the space, and dirty cups piled up until I had to ask for someone to clean up. I understand that it might have been a busy night, but if the venue can’t deliver on what was promised, it creates a frustrating and underwhelming experience. Hosting an event should feel special, not stressful. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this venue for anyone looking for a smooth, well-managed event.

I visited Brighton Metro Hotel’s sports bar for the first time to watch UFC, but the experience was disappointing. The setup isn’t practical—many seating areas have obstructed views of the TVs, and some are blocked by glazing, making it difficult to watch the event properly. A major issue was the new ordering app, The Pass, which they were heavily promoting. However, the staff had no idea how to use it, and there was no problem-solving when issues arose. It’s funny how they push customers to use the app but aren’t prepared to assist when things go wrong. Another downside was the restroom setup. There were separate male, female, and kids’ toilets, but the baby-changing station was only in the female toilet. This outdated assumption that only women should handle baby changing is unfair. A unisex baby change area would be much more inclusive. The overall vibe was off, and customer service was lacking. Even after ordering at the bar, service was extremely slow—we had to wait a long time just for a single beer. Unfortunately, with all these issues, I couldn’t fully enjoy the UFC event.

Love the metro hotel and its atmosphere but despite ordering two different types of pizzas we received the same. It came out and looked odd but we ate half each anyway before giving up because of the way it tasted. Looks like very cheap ingredients and undercooked. It’s a real shame because the Espy’s pizza has really upped its game and gluten free dominoes is exceptional for a cheaper price. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s buffet food but either lower the price on the pizza instead of $32 for a GF base meat lovers or improve the quality if you can. I’m providing constructive feedback and don’t mean to come across as harsh as I have never left a negative review.

Place was very clean and tidy. Staff were polite, happy and very friendly. Food was fresh and plenty of it. A drink on the house for an adult birthday was such a surprise and was the icing on the cake. Definitely be back. Thank you
