Reviews for Melbourne Cricket Ground

I attended the Boxing Day Ashes Test Match 2025. The MCG is one of the great cricket venues and the crowds exceeded 90000 on each day. The access system was highly efficient, and there didn't appear to be long delays queuing to go through security checks. Catering was sufficient, the typical sport venue fare. I sat at level 1 in the no-alcohol zone, and that was carefully marshalled by stewards and the police. I also sat in level 4. The view from both of my seats was good, surprisingly so for such a huge stadium. Getting to the ground is easy, taking the Metro from Southern Cross Stadium, then a short walk across from Jolimont or Richmond stations. Get off at Richmond for gates 6 and 7, Jolimont for Gate 5 or lower. An interesting series of statues of Melbourne's sporting heroes lines the paths around the ground - cricket, AFL and athletics.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is an iconic landmark and a must-visit for sports lovers. The stadium is massive, well maintained, and full of history, making it special even if you’re not attending a live match. The atmosphere during events is electric, with passionate fans creating an unforgettable experience. Seating offers great views from most areas, and the facilities, including food outlets and amenities, are well organised. The surrounding parklands add to the overall charm and make it a great area to walk around. The MCG Museum is also worth visiting to learn about Australia’s rich sporting history. Overall, the Melbourne Cricket Ground delivers a world-class sporting and cultural experience and is one of Melbourne’s most iconic attractions.

Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium has the fan spirit in it. It is a wonderful place to watch all kinds of sports. There is a place to buy food, and the seats were good, even if you are far away. There are big TVs all around the stadium to give you the best experience. The staff were really helpful too guiding you to your seat and the bathroom were kept pretty clean. My only suggestion is to work on the food quality, although the food was on the expensive side. It was low quality. But overall, it was a good experience, you would really have fun and enjoy your time, especially if you are with your loved ones.

One of the world’s great stadiums. On a beautiful day no better place to watch sport. Add to that the Stadium Tours & various museums no better way to spend a few hours learning about the history of the MCG & the sports played there. Must do for any sports enthusiasts.

Boxing Day Test at the MCG. A Memorable Experience Despite the Crowds Attending the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was an unforgettable experience, filled with the energy and excitement that makes live cricket so special. The stadium was packed, and while this led to long lines at the concessions, the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and attentive, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable despite the crowds. At one point, I wasn’t entirely sure of my seat location. When I asked for guidance, the staff kindly escorted me to the correct row, clearly showing the letter and exact seat. Their professionalism and patience stood out and made a potentially stressful moment effortless. The game itself was thrilling, and the atmosphere of the MCG; combined with the shared excitement among thousands of fans; created a truly memorable day. While small operational improvements could enhance the flow at busy concession areas, they didn’t detract from the overall experience. Spending this day with friends, immersed in such a historic sporting environment, was genuinely enjoyable. It’s a reminder that great staff, combined with an iconic venue and the energy of live sport, can turn a simple event into a lasting memory. Sometimes, it’s the people and the atmosphere that make an event unforgettable; not just the game itself.
