Overall a disappointing stay especially for the money we spent on a dine and stay package in a suite. Rooms are basic and dated - well overdue for a renovation. Not cosy or luxurious. Plus, whoever thought that frosted glass doors and no sound insulation were a good idea for a toilet in a romantic suite? Restaurant is very average, dishes unremarkable though they try with service. Breakfast - I have no words. Very limited selection, they constantly ran out of food and we had to wait for replenishment, 3 star hotel quality. Positives: grounds are beautiful and the spa is nice. Parking is indeed free :-)

Had a great experience with the front receptionist this week. My mother and I had some issues with the adjoining restaurant, and the wonderful Frances promptly (and gracefully!) completely sorted it out 😊. Thank you so much! We appreciate the time and effort you took to make sure our stay was positive and memorable!

Very disappointing stay for the money we paid. The reception staff and the management were very disappointing indeed. We were given a room overlooking dirty laundry trolleys when the hotel was empty. Instead of accommodating guests to a wonderful room with a balcony and amazing view to compensate for the delapidated status of the premises, they prefer to exhaust you with arguments and give you a room which is definitely not coresponding to 5* hotel. Pool area was filthy with dirty floor and lots of sand on it. Extremely eroded columns in the pool and ourdated look, emphasise the so needed renovation, which is way overdue now. Breakfast was below average with poor choices and unsatisfactory quality of pastries and food options. Clearly the management relies on " one off experiences" and events as i do not think that there will be more returned customers with the experience we had. On the plus side the place is gorgeous and the next door flower garden with the mansion was worth visiting. We had a corporate event at Shadowfax and we have another one soon, but definitely will not be back to stay in the Mansion. It was clear to us that the guests are not very welcomed there, or at least we felt that way. For every single correction that needed to be done, more money were requested to be paid. It was ridiculous on top of the rate we paid, additional $100 was demanded to be paid for having a room that was not looking over the dirty laundry collecting point. Very disappointing experience indeed. Advice to the management! If you still want to have customers, please treat them with respect and you might accommodate them better to compensate for the dilapidated building that you are still attempting to pass for 5*. Please wake up and implement changes in everything to attract customer and provide an experience that will be memorable not for the problems, but for the incredible memories that might have been created there. PS. We spent an hour waiting for the reception to allocate the room and as we were offered the small room overlooking the dirty laudry collection point when the whole place was empty, we insisted to have the appropriate room for three of us. We specifically indicated in the booking that the room we wanted was for 2 adults and a child. We were told that there was no staff to put the additional bed as the staff was gone. It took another 45 min in yo-yoing between reception and the supervisor. We requested to see the manager as we could not wasted any more time in fruitless discussions, being very tired and having being traveling for a long time we just accepted the room as we were told that there is nothing else available unless we pay even more for a suite, which would not have suited us we were told as there was no space for the additional bed. We had to quickly conclude with the check in as we had a corporate event at Shadowfax winery and we needed to refresh before that.I read other reviews and they had a similar experience, expecting 5star treatment, but unfortunately their experience fell short of 5 stars as well.

Unfortunately I found my stay to be dominated by sneezing and hay fever and while in the room. When I looked around it was pretty horrified with how filthy the place was. For the price paid it left quite a sour taste in our mouths. See my pictures. The pool is in a bad state of repair along with the exterior of the building in many places and the exterior was covered in cobwebs. I spotted a number of significant dead branches on a gum tree overhanging a parking area. These trees are renowned for dropping dead limbs with no notice. Hotel management I'm sorry to leave this review, but people need to know that you need to pick up your act.

This place is local to us. Everything was amazing. Food was top notch best steak I’ve ever had. High tea was great. Spa experience was something I’ve never heard if before, Haman steam room with exfoliating scrub and clay mask. Felt so good. Ver relaxing.
