Walking distance to the restaurants of Lygon Street and quirky decor make this hotel a great experience. Beds are very comfortable and everything has been thought of in the rooms. The lobby bar and restaurant are broody and homey and the coffee is good! Will definitely stay again.

My name is Phillip Chalker I am totally blind and travel with a seeing eye dog. My friend Wendy, who also has an assistance dog, and I had a fantastic stay at Zagame’s House from June 1 to June 3, 2024. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful service and for accommodating our dogs. The lifts were accessible with audible announcements for each level, which made navigation easy. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A special thanks for the surprise chocolate bar provided for Wendy’s birthday—it was a lovely gesture that we appreciated. We were also delighted to see our names welcomed on the big screen of our TV upon arrival. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. For anyone with a guide dog, seeing eye dog, or assistance dog, I highly recommend this hotel. It’s within walking distance to parks for toileting your dogs and has plenty of food shops nearby. Thank you, Zagame’s House, for making our stay so enjoyable!

Good service, somewhat central location, clean rooms and comfy beds. However the rooms themselves feel a bit like dark cave. The only proper window faces the alley, little daylight comes in. Especially if you don't want every other guest to look at you, you must close the blinds and are left without any daylight but very little coming from the bathroom (tinted glass). Accordingly also poor air flow. Also no space to dry your towels (why do so many hotels have this problem??) The gym room has some basic equipment but more than I would have expected for such a hotel.

Zagame’s has become my home away as I travel to Melbourne for work frequently. I am reluctant to stay anywhere else because of the high standard of quality in addition to the friendly and caring service that all staff provide. The nature of the team at Zagame’s is warm and helpful, ensuring that every stay with them is comfortable and meeting your every need. Zagame’s is a perfect location as it is only a short walk into the city but you are out of the hustle and bustle and right around the corner of Lygon St. The rooms are super spacious and groovy. The choice of rugs, cushions and books gives the space a cosy feel. The beds are extra comfortable with luxurious cloud feeling pillows. The rooms are always cleaned to a very high standard. Can’t fault them anywhere. If you don’t feel like going far, you can head downstairs to the beautiful wine bar. The wine list is impressive and extensive. The charcuterie board is a must. The menu is delicious. Highly recommend staying at Zagame’s.

More 4.5 stars. I stayed here 3 nights (Fri-Mon) and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. They immediately came to assist when I couldn’t figure out the coffee machine (it wasn’t plugged in but I couldn’t see that as the powered point was way behind the mini fridge which needed to be pulled out to access). They also allowed me to have late checkout due to a later flight time which I really appreciated. My only faults are the fridge panel needs replacing, purely a cosmetic issue and the hotel is on the main drag of Carlton so you will hear a few cars hooning a bit on the weekend nights. No fault of the hotel but just part of being in a vibrant area with heaps of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. I’m a light sleeper so it woke me up a few times but not a major issue. I didn’t hear any other noise from other patrons of the hotel so I found it very relaxing despite the cars. The rooms were very comfortable with everything you could possibly need and a fair price for the great location and amenities in my opinion. For those that complain about the toilets, they are not a private as in some hotels but not a huge issue however I’ve been married for many years. ;) The glass surrounding the toilet is textured/frosted and there is also a moveable screen between the bathroom and bedroom for additional privacy but you would hear noises and see an outline of a person if you’re concerned about that stuff. My advice is get over it, we’re all human. :) Great hotel for a holiday touring Melbourne and would stay again.
