I took my wife to Olinda Tea House as a last-minute decision for her birthday — no booking, just hoping for the best. Thankfully, they had a table available, and what unfolded turned out to be one of the most memorable and peaceful dining experiences we’ve had. The serenity of the place was absolutely magical, especially at this time of year with the trees showcasing their stunning autumn colours. The beautifully maintained gardens and the gentle presence of alpacas added a unique charm. We were even able to enjoy a glass of wine while strolling through the gardens, which set a wonderfully relaxing tone before our meal. The staff were friendly and welcoming, I had asked them if they could do something small and special for my wife, and they happily obliged — a thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed and really made her day. We ordered from the lunch specials menu, and were genuinely impressed. The food was beautifully presented, packed with flavour, and generously portioned. The pricing was more than reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the overall experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic, and delicious escape — planned or spontaneous - but keep in mind we were lucky to get a table without booking!.

The Signature High Tea Set was not only beautifully presented but also really delicious! I absolutely loved the caramel choux puff, it was so good! The animal mousse cake was both super cute and tasty. The atmosphere is lovely and the garden is stunning. A perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon.

This restaurant is a true hidden gem, nestled in the mountains with fresh air and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect escape from the city, where you can enjoy both nature and great food. Speaking of food, everything we tried was delicious! The highlight for me was the crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside chicken—highly recommend this dish. As for dessert, the presentation was beautiful, perfect for photos, but the taste was just okay. One unexpected surprise? An alpaca with an overbite that had us laughing the entire time—it was absolutely hilarious! Service was warm and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Would I come back? Definitely!

Beautiful setting, but the food didn’t quite live up to expectations. We stopped in for a light meal and ordered a few yum cha-style dishes rather than a full course. Unfortunately, the dumplings and bao tasted like pre-made frozen items that had been reheated, underwhelming, especially considering the price point. To be fair, we didn’t try any of the mains, which did look freshly cooked, but based on what we experienced, we’re unlikely to return, especially with so many fantastic dining options across Melbourne offering far better quality at similar or lower prices. Ultimately, you’re paying for the setting and the service, not the food. A lovely spot for a coffee or tea perhaps, but not somewhere I’d recommend for a proper meal.

We had a lovely experience at the Gazebo High Tea at Olinda Tea House! The setting was absolutely beautiful - perfect for a special outing🌳😍 We were especially impressed that they thoughtfully arranged a vegetarian high tea for us. Every dish looked stunning and tasted just as amazing. A great mix of sweet and savoury treats, all beautifully presented in the serene gazebo. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and elegant high tea in the Dandenong Ranges!😋😍
