On a hot Saturday night the Albion Rooftop was the perfect place to be. Live music from a trio who took requests and great food and hosts. The cauliflower with blue sauce and the London fries with gravy are standouts.

The woman working the cloak room was extremely rude for no reason. Someone cut in front of me so I politely told them I had been waiting first to which she took their number and someone behind me before me and intentionally took her time to get my bag. She had a horrible attitude with everyone, greeted no one and acted like it was a burden that people were trying to get their bags back despite no one acting disorderly in the slightest. It was compulsory to cloak bags for $5 too so it’s not as if we had a choice to avoid her horrible attitude.

I don’t come here for anything other than Latin dance night and it’s one of my favorite places. On fridays they have free salsa and bachata classes from 7-9 and then open dance floor all night. It’s a great place for a group of friends or unique first date ideas. The atmosphere is light and playful and everyone is all smiles. Super flirty if you’re after hot dance connections ;) They also open up the rooftop after 11pm to dance so it’s even more fun! Highly recommend going every Friday if you want something different to do or just to get better at dancing. Everyone’s pretty accommodating and kind to beginners cos they know how hard it is when you’re just starting out.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the Albion Hotel. My friend was denied entry because his shirt featured two men kissing, which came across as blatantly discriminatory. When I questioned this, I was also refused entry for wearing a singlet, even though it was stylish and not overly casual. The website does not provide a clear dress code, leaving security to make biased and inconsistent decisions. When we asked to speak to the bar manager to address this, security refused, which made the situation even worse. This experience felt unfair and discriminatory, and it left a lasting negative impression. The Albion Hotel needs to review their policies and ensure their staff enforce them without prejudice.
