I had a great time here. I stayed here with my bridal party the night before my wedding. The room was clean, the beds big and comfy. The location was amazing. It was great to walk around the gardens and mansion. Hotel guests get free entry to the mansion museum. The building was also impressive with billiard tables around. I didn’t get to try Josephs or the spa unfortunately. We walked to Shadowfax winery for dinner and it was amazing. Friendly staff and check in/out was quick and easy. Breakfast was decent, plenty of options.

My partner and I came here to celebrate the one year anniversary of our first meeting - and also as a romantic location for me to propose to him. I chose the precinct passport package and we were very surprised by our complimentary room upgrade. We were placed in the newest part of the hotel (built 2000, I think). The room was very clean and well maintained and showing its age very slightly. Upon check-in and throughout our stay, the desk staff were very polite and professional (and seemed to enjoy being there). Our package also included a spa treatment - this too was fantastic with great customer service. The staff at the complementary breakfast too were professional and friendly. The breakfast itself was of a good standard and regularly refreshed by the kitchen staff. The front of house staff ensured an orderly flow of diners and maintained high standards of cleanliness. We ate at Joseph's on our second night. I found the food good, although my partner (a chef) was not happy with the presentation or quality of my meal (the steak). For me, the only areas that needed attention were in the pool area which was clean, but in need of cosmetic repairs. I highly recommend the passport package for those wishing to spend a relaxing (and romantic) weekend here. You have an included lunch at the winery (fantastic food and wine), entry to the Chirnside Mansion, a spa treatment, and entry to the Werribee Zoo. Fantastic value all round.

I really wanted to love this place, esp as we stayed 2 nights but 1) had some snacks at the lounge fri night, discovered the seats against the wall needed you to sit on a cushion to be the right height for the table (I’m 5’10”). The table wasn’t stable, had to find napkins to try to fix. Then discovered how close everyone was to each other, def not relaxing. There aren’t enough menus for each table either. Asked and yes we can have food/drink in the library. Mezze plate ok I guess, if you don’t mind it’s mostly pickles. Calamari yum. 2) library a great vibe, found 2 games and chose scrabble. Ate our food but couldn’t get thru game as it was icy cold @8-9pm. Had to retreat to bedroom as pool table also freezing cold 3) sat breakfast ok but serving area is a bit narrow so if you wanted to go back you had to get in queue again. Scrambled eggs lovely, tomatoes lovely but cold. Went out to check flower garden we could see from the windows. Looked like dahlias but the outer circles looked very unloved with half dead plants and weeds growing where I think there were supposed to be garden beds or just gravel. Lawn needed mowing so didn’t bother going to the middle circle. 4) had a 30min private steam package and then 1hr massage. Would def recommend. 5) had the high tea which I would def recommend. There was one lovely lady we had serve us at dinner, breakfast and the high tea was always helpful, prob the only one who went above and beyond. 6) went and had deluxe safari tour at zoo, def recommend. 7) had dinner at Joseph’s at 7pm, busy but not all tables full. To pay $90ph for 2 courses I did expect better service (and more staff). We had to request a drink menu from someone walking past, then had to stop someone to place our drink order so ordered meal too. Scallop entree beautiful but pork belly a bit dry. When the next course arrived hubbies chips were very cool, they did replace quickly but steak wasn’t hot. My barramundi was hot and lovely. We brought a bottle of wine but had to top up the glasses ourselves. 8) went and got drinks from lounge and went to library but everywhere had people. Saw kids kicking soccer balls in foyer. Decided to go back to room. 9) loooove the bed 10) was given a late checkout of noon, but given the power in the room doesn’t work looks like we are leaving earlier. Apparently all of Werribee south. 11) you have to leave the bathroom light on to be able to use the power point next to the bed. Took me ages to work out. Gave up at 1am when I couldn’t sleep with all that light

OMG where to start, we purchased a Luxury Escape package which LE should delete immediately. Check in was slow there was nobody in front of us to check is in but both staff seemed more intent on what they were doing and on not checking us in We went for drinks in the “bar” that is more like a cold dingy tiny room with tables that were so unsteady you needed napkins under the legs to keep them even and unmatched chairs in height, it was almost felt like I was reaching up to the table It was such a unwelcoming space and the bar tender must of had a bad day because he wasn’t happy! We took our drinks into the library as it was the best space to relax, unfortunately the air conditioning was on so low at about 15 it felt like and became so cold our drinks didn’t need ice. We retired to the room, the bed was comfy and large but the decor needs updates with some ugly stains removed. unfortunately the next rooms toilet must back onto our room (enough said) Breakfast was varied but a lot of the hot? food was luke warm. We had spa treatments which wad fantastic but is also a separate company from the Mansion. Go figure We had a high tea package which was the highlight of the weekend, varied pieces of food and hot for the pieces that should have been and wholesome in flavour. We had dinner in Joseph’s on Saturday night that was a total let down, under staffed, over priced and under whelming. Food menus had stains on them, we had to ask for a drinks menu three times but could only get one when another table had finished as they didn’t have enough to go round. We were seated for 15 mins before our drinks menu arrived, our entree’s were the pork (very dry) and scallops which were ok. We had the Barramundi as mains which was good and the Porterhouse which was Luke warm with cold chips. I sent this back to the kitchen, when it came back the chips were hot but by now the meat was cold. I couldn’t be bothered sending it back again. We decided to skip dessert. After dinner we got a drink from the bar and went to the library again, it wasn’t as cold but there were 3 -4 children playing soccer just outside the room???? in the lobby with no supervision so it was time to go again! I’m sitting writing this summary in our room without power ( I believe it’s a regular thing that the power goes out here) The mansion while grand in nature and stature needs a real overhaul, even the flower beds and lawns look sad. I don’t write many of these reviews usually but all in all it’s necessary

Location was nice and staff were great. But this place isn't set up very well. They're charging 500 dollars a night plus meals and entertainment for a place with grimy showers and small rooms. Reception seemed understaffed as no one was there when we arrived. The pool heater doesn't work and they suffer from power outages. This is a place charging premium prices for Air BNB quality.
