We had a wonderful dining experience at True South. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined—perfect for a cozy evening out. We ordered a steak, salad, and chicken, and every dish exceeded our expectations. The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, and the salad was fresh, vibrant, and the perfect complement to the mains. You can really tell the kitchen puts care and attention into every plate. The balance of flavors, quality of ingredients, and generous portions made the whole meal incredibly satisfying. Combine that with the top-notch service, and it's easy to see why this place stands out. Whether you're looking for a nice night out or a great meal with friends or family, True South definitely delivers. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Oh man, True South in Black Rock, it’s number one, I love it so much! This place so beautiful, like old garage but now super fancy with big windows looking at Port Phillip Bay. We sit on balcony, watch sunset, so pretty like dream, make my heart happy! Food is so yummy, Argentinean style, taste just perfect. We try tuna ceviche, so fresh, flavor explode in mouth. Tapas for sharing, oh my, calamari and chorizo super delicious, I eat non-stop! They got kids’ menu too, my little one so happy, no fuss. Drinks also awesome, craft beer cold and nice, cocktails make me smile. Monday to Thursday got Happy Hour, good price, save money, love it! Staff so nice, like family, always smiling, help us pick best dishes, talk soft and clear. Service fast but chill, make us feel special. Place super clean, vibe relaxed but fun, perfect for family or friends. I hear they do weddings, parties too—Bay View Room look so cool for big day. True South is best spot in Black Rock, I come back quick, for real!

The food was nothing truly memorable, nor worth going back for. It was tasty, but too small a portion and too large a price for what it was worth. Won't go back again. I've had far better food of this kind at a fraction of the price. 1 empanada for $13. Never again.

After a day at the beach we were looking for a watering hole to quench our thirst whilst overlooking the beach. True south fit the bill. A good selection of beers on tap at a reasonable price for the location $14 for a pint of Carlton draft. Beer was cold. The food Entrees Croquettes 3.5/5 - ok at best, had a lot of potential Tuna ceviche - 5/5 a standout dish. Unbelievable flavour. Could have used a smidgen more of tuna Chorizo - 4/5 the value for money dish. Flavour was good. Mains & Sides Porterhouse + bone marrow butter 6/5 - absolutely outstanding. The cook was a perfect medium rare. Flavour was fantastic. Calamari - 4/5 solid entry. Not great but pretty good. Was lacking seasoning. Greek island fries 3.7/5 - pretty good for chips, light on the feta and a little expensive for what they are. Overall great dining experience 👍

Went for lunch recently. The croquette of the day was pretty average. The prawn sliders were really good. The tuna and mango ceviche was fresh. The rice bowl with prawn and avocado was great and I would order again. Steak was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were a little rich with the salsa verde. The brûlée was awesome. Service was excellent. Would return and recommend
