Reviews for Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank

Special thanks to Summer, Nate, Nat, Ned... They are one hell of a Manager. Completely understood our bizarre set of circumstances that led our family to be split between two hotels (nothing to do with Holiday Inn) and made sure nothing was made more difficult for us in Melbourne. Helped us out with extreme care, changed booking details and understood my sleeping issues, so made sure everything was taken care of. That is not what I expected from a Holiday Inn hotel. Thank you, Summer. Excellent choice for us and close to the Trade Fair. Breakfast was great, waiter even brought me the empty bag from the toast and had a good old chat about what makes fruit toast good. Was like being with a mate. Rooms are small but very clean, comfortable and functional. Good block out blinds and double glazed windows. Easy to walk everywhere. Awesome breakfast, charging stations. You can get clean water on the reception level as well as grab a toothbrush if you forgot (I did), plus order food and drinks and take it back to your room. Understand what you are getting here is the room without the bits you don't need. But if you do need them, you can get it. Very interesting business model. I think it is great and will definitely stay here again. The Ten Hot Pot down the road was fantastic and great for kids.

The staff was fantastic. Very helpful. The room was fabulous. Everything was clean. Loved the shower. Breakfast was soo good that you did need to go early to get an sit. They had so many choices. We will definitely be choosing this hotel again for a city stays.

It's a decent hotel right across the river from the CBD. Room was perfectly nice and I was able to use the AC even though it was technically right in middle of the winter which I really appreciated. Free breakfast is ok but not the best, the eggs especially tasted really bad, but it's free so that didn't bother me. My only real negative about this place is the way the staff are not very nice and don't know how to treat you right. I'm IHG platinum member so I was using my free drink vouchers and with one of them I was able to choose any beer I wanted from the bar, but the next day with a different staff member using my 2nd voucher I was rudely told that I could only have a peroni or a glass of red wine. I understand if thats the policy at this location but then it should be consistent, and they shouldn't be rude about it.

Great for the price point, I definitely would stay again! Staff were friendly, attentive, the hotel was clean and cheap. The bed and pillows were very very uncomfortable which were a huge downfall. The location is central to a lot of things however the city traffic meant it took us 20 mins to move about 300 metres in traffic. Ubers found it difficult to get to and from us.. if looking for somewhere with better access to local places I would opt for a different hotel.

Location: Quiet location away from the city but just minutes away from the river. Stroll along the river promenade and you will discover a variety of quaint river-front restaurants all the way to the Crown complex. Rooms: Comfortable and cosy with basic amenities. Call down to reception for complimentary toiletries if you've forgotten to pack your own. No bottled water in the room, but there is a 7-11 five minutes walk away. Breakfast: Complimentary breakfast provided with a regular spread of hot and cold breakfast items, breakfast juices and hot beverages. Food was replenished regularly. Service: CONSISTENT good guest service provided throughout our stay from check-in to check-out. Even if they could not fulfill a request, staff were genuine apologetic. From reception to breakfast all staff encountered were friendly, polite and warm. We appreciated after a long flight the staff welcomed us with a welcome drink and thanked us for our IHG membership. Felt like we've come home ;) Definitely our favourite Holiday Inn Express property in Melbourne and we'll be back!
