We recently held my sister’s wedding at this venue and unfortunately our experience was disappointing in several key areas. Firstly, we supplied 16 bottles of whiskey and had both an indoor and outdoor bar. We were told the whiskey had “run out” at the indoor bar, yet when we collected everything the next day, only 6 bottles had been opened in total. It was clear the bottles from the outdoor bar were never brought inside. On top of that, the indoor bartender wasn’t pouring proper shots, guests were served tiny amounts of alcohol with excessive mixers, and he wasn’t using a shot glass at all. Many of our guests expressed how unhappy they were with the drink service, and there was absolutely no reason to restrict the alcohol as we had no rowdy or disruptive guests. When we raised this with the manager on the night, he seemed unaware of what was happening. He insisted the bottles were “finished” without even checking, which was frustrating and unprofessional. In general the staff were not pleasant, did not look happy doing their jobs. Even if we said thank you, they would just walk away without responding. The venue management also struggled with basic event execution. The manager was unable to dim the lights for the first dance, which completely affected the ambience during a very special moment. Later, on the dance floor, he managed to dim only one side of the room, leaving one half brightly lit and the other half dimmed, which created an awkward and unattractive atmosphere. The dance floor itself was unsafe. The floor panels separated while people were dancing, and staff were telling guests to move away. This disrupted the celebrations and should never occur at a professional wedding venue. In addition, several chairs were broken, which was disappointing and not acceptable for a formal event. The staff were also clearing food away very quickly, even when guests were still eating or had momentarily left to socialise. Many guests felt rushed and unable to properly enjoy their meals. This is the feedback we received from our guests. Finally, the wedding cake was placed on an angle on the cake table, seemingly for staff convenience when lifting it later, but it looked crooked in person and in photos. These details are small but incredibly important on a wedding day, and it was disheartening to see such little attention to detail. We have been to many wedding venues and know the standard of service that should come with events of this importance. Unfortunately, this venue fell far below those expectations.

We had an amazing stay at this Hotel. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby tourist spots. It’s right in the heart of everything. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a comfortable bed that made for a great night's sleep. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they handed us kids holiday activity pack & complimentary drink card to redeem in the bar for us as an anniversary token. We stayed in the executive floor as we requested to stay in quiet floor. My daughter loved the room, amenities and we definitely had a relaxed holiday. We wish we could have stayed for another day. 🙂 We can't wait to come back in Canberra again and to book to this Hotel.

We were recommended by friends to stay here. First time in Canberra and we were upgraded to a suite on arrival. Really nice spacious room, with kitchen and washer/dryer. Underground parking, with places to eat & drink within hotel and nearby. Great location, would highly recommend.

Not a 5 star experience. This is misleading. I would expect a 5 star hotel would offer a bathroom with a towel rack! The towels were small and felt like sand paper. We had a poor night sleep due to the airconditioner not regulating at an even temperture, we were either boiling hot or freezing, and we were unable to adjust it. The free buffet breakfast was disappointing, i would skip this and pop over across the road for a decent meal. I would not recommend this hotel, i have stayed in much better hotels that are not claiming to be 5 star.

I had an amazing stay at the Realm in Canberra. And it started right when I was checking in. Mali was the Guest Services Agent who checked me in and she was so kind. I had a journey that was supposed to be 27 hours and turned into 54. Mali was so gracious and made sure I had everything I needed to settle in. All the staff I met was wonderful. Next time I am in Canberra, will definitely stay there again.
