Old Parliament House is a great place to visit when in Canberra. Free entry with plenty to see, explore and do. We visited the museum on a weekday (Friday) and it was not busy at all, which was excellent. It took us about two hours to explore everything. There's plenty to do for kids as well with interactive installations and a dedicated area to explore. I definitely recommend a visit to Old Parliament House when in town followed by a visit to one of the other museums in Canberra.
It is nice place to visit. We drive about 3h from Sydney. Beautiful Green PARK in front. The parking is also cleaned, tidy. I even can see some rabbits, 😁. Peaceful side.
The best museum in Canberra! We had so much fun that we came back a second time to see more. I highly recommend booking the tours online and setting aside as much time as possible to explore everything. Since this is a museum, there are often school groups visiting. If you’re on a tight schedule, you might miss out on certain parts of the Parliament while waiting for the school groups to finish.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much history within in this building, walking through was like stepping back into my early working years with the equipment I fondly member being a part of. Thought I had seen everything but kept stumbling upon more with every corridor we walked down.
One of the best museums I’ve visited. Great balance of insight into politics. The positive (I love the video of ex prime ministers giving positive feedback on other ex prime ministers) and the negative (brilliant displays of cartoon satire). The offices of the prime minister are an exciting step back in time to an 80s office. Brilliant!!
