The taste was average. I hadn’t expected much after reading the reviews, so it turned out better than I thought. The view was stunning—perfect for a special occasion. However, we came to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had informed the restaurant in advance, but they did nothing to acknowledge it. That was disappointing. I expected at least a small gesture, as you would find at most fine dining restaurants. I felt the level of hospitality didn’t quite match what you’d expect from a fine dining experience, and I hope they improve in that regard.
My girlfriend and I visited Eureka 89 for our 1 year anniversary. The experience was really impressive! Great views of the city from our window seat after sunset. We opted for the wine pairing that was absolutely perfect for each meal. Our server, whose name I forgot but it might have been Callum? The English bloke who came over with his best friend who makes a banging Long Island Ice Tea! The service was fantastic, explained everything and were super polite, very attentive, and were happy to assist with any request. We'll definitely be coming back for our next anniversary dinner 😎
Had an incredible anniversary dinner at Eureka 89 with my wife, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. We went with the signature 6-course meal, and every dish was crafted beautifully — the Hiramasa Kingfish and Chocolate Parfait were absolute standouts! A special shoutout to Ashley, our server for the evening. She was attentive, warm, and made sure all our requests were looked after. What really touched us was how she ended the night by surprising us with a hand drawn photo of the two of us — such a thoughtful gesture that made the night even more memorable. Thank you, Eureka 89, for making our anniversary truly special. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fine dining experience with heart.
My partner and I chose Eureka 89 to celebrate our one year anniversary. The food was outstanding, we kept thinking the next dish could never compare to the last but we were proved wrong again and again. We had the six course tasting menu. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The views were amazing. We were very lucky to have one of the best tables but all of them offer fantastic views. The only down side was having to use my phone to light up the menu because it was so dark. But the darkness made the view stand out more, which is the point, I think. We will defiantly be back.
Would come back for the view not the menu… I recently dined at Eureka 89, taking my partner there to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately, we both left feeling a bit underwhelmed. We chose the 6-course Chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing. While the food was well-prepared and flavorful, I felt that, for the price, there are better dining experiences available in Melbourne — some even at a lower cost. The atmosphere was pleasant overall, though our experience was somewhat diminished by a nearby couple using a ring light to take selfies throughout the evening. While this isn’t the restaurant’s fault, it did detract from the ambiance. The wait staff were attentive and hospitable, which we appreciated. However, I found it a little disjointed that, even though we indicated during the booking that we were celebrating a special occasion, the staff still asked again upon seating. For a premium dining experience, I would expect such details to be communicated seamlessly to the team. Portion sizes were quite small, and even after six courses, we both left still feeling hungry. While the complimentary access to the Skydeck was a nice added touch, overall, I believe there are better value options for fine dining in Melbourne. I’d suggest considering alternatives that offer a more satisfying experience at a similar or lower price.
