A Memorable Dining Experience with Some Service Caveats: We recently enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Gavroche. The food was absolutely fantastic. We opted for the set menu with matching wine, and each course impressed — from the escargot and Hokkaido scallop to the perfectly cooked steak with pan-seared foie gras. The dessert was also a delight and rounded off a very satisfying meal. However, the matching wine left much to be desired. The pour sizes resembled a wine tasting at a cellar door — very minimal. For the additional price, it would be more appropriate to label it as a “wine tasting” rather than “wine matching.” Another downside was the seating arrangement. We arrived early for dinner and were seated in a section that quickly became overcrowded, despite half the restaurant being empty. None of the vacant tables had “reserved” signage, yet when we asked to be moved, the request was firmly declined by a staff member whose demeanor felt more suited to a casual diner than a fine dining setting. It certainly didn’t set the right tone. That said, a special mention goes to Estelle and Arthur, who offered professional, attentive service and truly elevated our evening. Thanks to them, the experience ended on a high note.
5/5 is not enough to describe how good this place is. I rate this 10000000000000/10!!! Here are some dishes we ordered that I highly recommend you to try (which were almost the entire menu 😂): For entree, we ordered wagyu beef tartare with a twist of crispy potato flakes, duck liver pâté, mussels served with blue cheese, escargot and super creamy truffle onion soup. For mains, we had tournedos rossini (beef tenderloin, Foie Gras and potato galette), cheesy bay bugs, card cornfit (duck leg), Angus beef sirloin steak, wagyu rump steak - which were all amazing! They also have a vegetarian option which is truffle risotto, although very limited options for vegetarians. Although there were limited menu choices, each and every dish they served was full of flavour and hard to forget. Staff were friendly and professional in their service. Another outstanding point is that the noise level was quiet with background music on low volume, suitable for private/ intimate date. Anyways, I really really really recommend you to take your date, family and friends here to try the French cuisine!!!
Very lucky to be living close to this restaurant as I had a fantastic dinner here last night. The two specials for the night intrigued me - cultured Japanese quail soup and steak. Decided to give them both a go! The steak was cooked wonderfully, and soup was nice. The cultured quail - super tasty, unlike anything I've ever had before - really complemented the dishes! We also had the duck confit, which was cooked to perfection. All the food was really flavourful & balanced, and combined with the elegant atmosphere, it made for a great night.
Welcoming and friendly staff. The 'Canard Confit' was absolutely delicious and to end with the dessert trolley was the best. Went on Sunday and they have a 10% surcharge which raised our bill. I'll recommend and would come back.
A beautiful French restaurant in the city. We ordered onion soup, snail, risotto, lamb, duck legs and delicious french wines and champagne. Loved the drinks. I personally liked the snail dish more. Then we had beautifully yum crepe and few other desserts. Overall a nice place to be. It's bit little expensive.
