Every dish was tasty and overall great. We came here to celebrate our friend's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed the meals we selected for the 3 course meals. We added on oysters and mussels (so delicous) and had the best escargot I've had in my life. Hands down my favourite dish at the restaurant. Great service from Anna and Frank. TYSM
We had friend's birthday celebration dinner here. The food, atmosphere is great and so is the service. My standout dishes were the Hokkaido seared scallops, fresh oysters, and the beef tenderloin foie gras and also the escargots. The drinks were slightly overpriced in my opinion as we spent $2600 that night. But definitely a great date night place to go to.
We had an extremely disappointing dinner at this French restaurant. From the start, the service was somewhat inconsistent, slightly rude and not attentive. Drinks and food items came out fast from the kitchen, which was a positive. We tried all the starters and they were a miss. The onion soup had no seasoning and lacked depth, the salad with the three tiny pieces of cheese was too average and the escargot had good flavour but the presentation was subpar. One consistent thing throughout the night was how under-seasoned all the dishes were. This was the case as for the steak, chips and aligot. The desserts were also a huge miss, with the creme brulee coating your palette with a film of fat; something that I have never had before. Overall, for the price, location and quality, it’s hard for me to understand how this restaurant has 4 stars. I unfortunately do not recommend it.
Gavroche is the best French restaurant we’ve been to!!! I usually do not like French cuisine but the flavours from Gavroche were so good!!! We ordered from the Le Petite menu. Starters: French Onion soup - so rich and hearty. Thick cheese on top. Nice burn to it and added fun texture to the soup. 10/10 Escargot - the sauce was sooo good. I licked the bowl clean. 10/10 Mains: Rump steak - delicious and perfectly cooked but was just a good steak 7/10 Duck confit - crispy succulent duck! Didn’t think the sauce did too much or added anything. 7/10 We added aligot (mashed potato with cheese) and it was so velvety! Fun to eat but you can skip this because the mains already had chips. Dessert: Chocolate mousse - the presentation wasn’t cute HAHA but it was rich and creamy. 7/10 Crème brûlée - I added foie gras (+$10) which I thought was a weird combination but I ate it anyway! Hahaha I love foie gras so I’m not complaining but not sure if bananas and foie gras can mix. UNLESS they purée the foie gras and blend it well with the crème. 7/10 Overall service was amazing!!! Staff were friendly, attentive, fun, and served us well. If you’re keen to try authentic French cuisine, I highly recommend Gavroche.
The staff were very efficient at taking our orders and serving us. However, the steaks were somewhat overcooked. We ordered two medium and four medium-well steaks. The medium steaks came as “medium rare” but they were served closer to medium-well, and the medium-well steaks were cooked to well-done. Despite this, the steaks tasted good and the service was excellent.
