Rooms needed a bit of maintenance and so did the buildings. Room was comfortable though and sounds travel through the walls, so it can get rather noisy in the room when others outside or in the hallway walk past talking. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a small but lovely garden as well. Parking is not close to any rooms with the carpark been a dirt lot.
We have just spent a couple of days with friends, what a peaceful place to stay, lovely gardens, room was clean, staff friendly and helpful, meals were great, and sitting by the fire at night was so comfortable, we had such a lovely stay in this charming old hotel. Room upgrade was very much appreciated. A special thank you to Ted, General Manager, for his assistance with the seat belt incident, you were so helpful. We will be back.
Please be prepared to climb a lot of stairs at this property. Our room - 308 - was up multiple flights of stairs which is not fun with luggage, or for those who are not necessarily physically capable. I think if we had known this in advance we would have stayed elsewhere. It is certainly not an "accessible" hotel. The room we were given had an adjoining door to the room next door, that provides zero sound proofing. It meant that the early (and somewhat loud) risers in the room next door woke us up every morning, which meant no holiday sleep in for us. The sound proofing in this old building isn't great, if your neighbour snores, you'll hear it. The hall ways are dingy and in dire need of a refresh. The common area lounge rooms off reception are lovely, sitting by the fire was very relaxing. The breakfast buffet was great as well, although arriving to breakfast at 9.50am on a Sunday, most of the tables still had dirty plates at them meaning the nicer tables by the windows were not available without having to do some clearing - it would be good if the staff were more on top of this, clearing tables as soon as guests leave the dining room. The view over the golf course is lovely, as are the gardens and outdoor sitting areas... but overall, I was disappointed in this Peppers property. We booked via Luxury Escapes - would certainly not describe this as a "luxury" property.
Weekend away from Sydney so only a 90 minute drive. Spent it playing golf, tennis, snooker & heading into Bowral to look around. The hotel itself - rooms , tennis court etc are old & tired but the grounds, the vibe ( huge separate lounges with fires & comfy chairs) and the staff are fantastic.
This hotel is set in a beautiful garden. In spring when we visited the garden was full of blossoms. Lots of rabbits and bunnies can be seen all through out the grounds. The breakfast buffet was sensational and the bircher muesli was top notch.
