Excellent set up for booking in at reception and quick shuttle to our room in the Isolation area. Lovely room with nice seperate living room, very comfortable and so quite!. Cloudy day so no sunset but later that night after the "extreme ghost tour" we enjoyed the beautiful lights of Manly and the City from the deck of the Isolation Rooms Guest Lounge. Shuttle on demand service meant we could meander down through the whole station and then get the regular shuttle back to our room. Food at Boilerhouse was sumptuous and breakfast by the beach at the cafe was yummy. Overall great experience and lovely staff from all over the world especially Lisbon!
We really enjoyed the serenity of Q Station. While it was a little cool for us to go swimming, the private beach is a really nice perk. The staff are phenomenal, and oh so nice. The only issues we had were very minor and resolved quickly. The shuttle service is prompt, and the drivers very helpful (special shout out to Pedro). We will definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful stay at Q Station, the food, the friendliness of the staff, the views, everything was amazing. One small, but pretty major (although, inexpensive) suggestion is to put non-slip mats in the baths with showers. I only showered once over our three night stay, because hopping into and out of the bath was too dangerous with my feet slipping and not being able to gain traction. A non-slip mat in the bath would eliminate this and would GREATLY have improved our experience.
Overall nice place in a great, scenic location with lots of history and friendly staff. Really, really loved the countdown emails and virtual guidebook that included lots of helpful information. Wish more accommodation places did this! Downsides - shuttle bus didn't appear to run on the 10 minute loop as advised so a bit of waiting for transport, rooms are basic (but clean) and ours did not include a luggage stand which was a bit annoying. Rooms are also not soundproofed so when we had some inconsiderate guests talking loudly outside, we could hear the whole conversation. However, I understand the rooms are old and there are limitations, just more a note to be aware if you are noise sensitive, maybe choose one of the more isolated rooms. We enjoyed our stay though and it was very interesting to read about the history of the place.
A unique hotel experience - the location is beautiful, with great walking opportunities and beautiful surroundings. The accommodation has a "premium school camp"-vibe to it; the buildings are in good condition but old, and while everything is clean, everything is also showing their age. Part charming, part just old. Bathroom is roomy and ok, but just that - ok. The bed is comfortable. A modern minus: there was exactly one (1) power outlet in the room, and none accessible from bed or the tiny working desk - this isn't ideal for charging the phone overnight or working on a laptop, but work is not what the hotel is positioned for anyway, so I guess that's...fine? The accommodation blocks are spread across a large area, and there's either a fair bit of hilly walking in store to get anywhere, or you can call the free shuttle bus which can take a while to arrive.
