It's all about the rum at The Lobo, with a collection of more than 250 bottles dating back as far as 1930. In the great tradition of rum bars, cocktails are both delicious and cleverly named. This is a bar to while away a few hours, with squashy banquette seating and caribbean decor to match.
The Lobo is one of the coolest places to drink in Sydney. Inspired by Julio Lobo, the last Cuban sugar baron, we are a stylish and charming bar that is all about rum, good vibes, high-quality cocktails.
On Clarence Street in the CBD, you’ll find The Lobo tucked away, through heavy wooden doors, down a curved staircase.
It’s a cosy and intimate spot though, so reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment. It is also available for exclusive hire, with a capacity of 100 pax. With a great vibe, attentive bar staff, and delicious cocktails, The Lobo is the perfect place to while away for a few hours.

The Lobo – Sydney A hidden gem in the heart of Sydney and one of the most memorable bar experiences I’ve had in the city. The Lobo is tucked away down a staircase, and as soon as you step inside, you're transported somewhere totally different—think moody Caribbean lounge with dark timber, lush plants, and flickering candles. The cocktail menu is packed with creative rum-based drinks, but there’s something for everyone. The bartenders are friendly, passionate, and more than happy to help you find something you'll love. I had a couple of cocktails I’d never tried before, and they were perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The vibe is fun, energetic, and intimate—perfect for a date night or a small group catch-up. It does get loud when it’s busy, but the overall experience is worth it. Great music, great service, and a very cool, underground atmosphere. Highly recommend if you’re into craft cocktails and unique bars!

Say no more, the best Rums bar in Sydney CBD, such a great place to hide from the stressful part of the life and enjoy a night to recover the energy. The must-try Old Grogram is just mwha mwha mwha 😚😚😚 The bartenders are 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 A place you can’t miss, and you don’t need a hesitation to choose from their menu, every drink is good 👍🏼

Amazing cocktails, with a good variety between easy to drink and more complex mixology. Loved the place, decor and atmosphere too. Will come back! Approx $25 a cocktail but they also do happy hour 5–6pm daily with $13 cocktail and more. Recommend old grogan and king mango.

Had an amazing girls' night out at The Lobo! We tried their signature cocktail, the Old Grogram, and it did not disappoint. The best part? The dramatic flames that add a fun twist to the experience! Definitely a must-try for anyone visiting. Great vibe, fantastic drinks, and an all-around unforgettable evening!

Nice vibes. Nice theme. Nice reggae music. Ashamed there was almost no service at this bar on Valentine’s night. No welcome. Found our own seats. Ordered at the bar. Had to get water and (banana) chips on our own. It’s a rum bar which I’m not a huge fan of rum but i’d still come back cause vibes. Maybe next time I’ll give rum cocktail a chance cause their tequila cocktail was meh.
