The Drink n’ Dine guys have struck again. The brains behind The Norfolk and the Carrington (among many others) have given the Oxford Tavern a hell of an overhaul, bringing the old bar into the world of irrevent good times, the weekend party zone, and some darn good eats.
These days, the Oxford Tavern is less naked ladies on stage and questionable vibes, more taxidermy animals by the bar and mischievous good times. In short, The Oxford Tavern is now a place we’d like to spend our weekend. Like, the entire weekend.Said bar serves up quality cocktails with an inventive twist, and some quality beers. The irreverent tone of the bar is echoed on the food menu, with a waffle dessert that comes with gloves instead of cutlery, and a slew of hot dogs, burgers, fried chicken, and a fried chicken burger. But you know, done well. There’s even a BBQ in the shady, charming beer garden out the back. Good times indeed.
The Oxford Tavern is found on New Canterbury Road in Petersham, perched right on the corner of Crystal Street/Stanmore Road. Petersham train station is a short walk/stroll/stumble away, for those of you not lucky enough to call the Oxford their local.
