We came for a family dinner. We quite enjoyed the atmosphere and the design of the restaurant. We ordered Barbari bread which we absolutely loved and the buffalo curd was amazing! Although they did forget about one of our entrees but quickly served after we reminded them. The timing from the entrees to the main was abit too long (40minutes), we loved the pork, lamb and beef they were all very top quality meat and very tender! The marshmallow dessert was a good experience and fun for the family ☺️ The specialty drink was interesting and the wine was good.
Gerard's is a Brisbane institution and must-visit for locals and visitors alike. The new share-style menu is exquisite and the fit out one of the most inviting in Brisbane. For a special occasion, date night or VIP client hosting, I can't recommend Gerard's enough.
A very enjoyable dinner was had at Gerard's Bistro We decided on the $85 per head set menu and it was a good decision. It was substantial and a lot of food. The starter was Barbari bread and a Kingfish crudo. Just delightful and very generous in portion size. Main was Margra lamb collar with an accompanying Green Palestinian farmers salad and fattoush, moghrabiah, sumac. The lamb was tender and pulled apart and a large serve for 2 people. Dessert was Carob pastry cream, bee pollen meringue, shiraz caramel. I really liked this. We had a bit of a wine issue as the one I chose was not in the cellar, but settled on a backup so all was good. All the food was delightful, the service was attentive and not overbearing. The only criticism I would have is the font on the wine is quite small and for me it was unreadable. I had to go through it on my phone, however this isn't a deal breaker. All in all I though the set menu was excellent value for money and it frees up the budget for a splurge on wine Highly recommended!
I was looking forward to Gerard’s for a month, but unfortunately it just didn’t stack up. The to improves: - The timing between meals felt off (all starters at once and then a 40 minute gap for mains) - Despite being asked for a water preference (we chose sparkling) we were topped up with still and mixed into the sparkling - The sauce with the beef was over-salted (had the back of the throat salt bite) - The staff did not realise dessert was part of the set menu and asked us whether we would like to order dessert. We had to clarify… - No single dish “wowed” us, maybe it’s a matter of preference and taste but generally in fine dining experience I’ve walked away being “wowed” by at least one - We got the roasted bone marrow as an extra, but it was overpowered by the pastry (it didn’t feel like the marrow was the star of the dish). The Good: - The ambience and location is quite nice - The starter bread was extremely fresh, straight out of the oven! - Kingfish tasted super fresh and clean. - Meat quality was top notch. Given the other reviews, I’m hoping we were just here on an “off night” but… we left a little dissatisfied.
The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic! Our food was the best we’ve had in a very long time. Shae our waiter was incredible and we couldn’t have asked for a better night! Thank you
