Reviews for Oaks Port Douglas Resort

Generally the resort was good. We loved the ambience and layout, especially the lilypad area. However, they are not really disability friendly. There are ramps etc to the main areas but no lifts and they don't guarantee a ground floor room upon request even if you have mobility issues. We had to fight hard for a ground floor room only to have the shower inside a bath tub which caused more access issues. There was no access to food and drinks between the hours of 9.30am and 12pm or 3pm and 5pm so don't expect a morning or afternoon coffee. Housekeeping was random, you never knew if it would get done or not, and it was always done late afternoon so don't aim for a rest after a busy day or it will never get done. The staff were great, very personable. The restaurant was pretty good, the food quality was excellent but you could only get pizza 3 nights of the week so eating away from the resort is the only option. They also had very rich, alternative type meals so didn't really cater for people with simple tastes. All in all it was reasonable if you were happy to eat out most days and we're able bodied.

We had an up graded room due to some issues that arose. The room overlooking the pool was sensational 👌. Room 2106. We didn't have the room attended to for our stay, so it was cheaper again. The breakfast was fantastic. Cheaper if you pay the night before. Save $5 per adult. There was some water damage in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable, and a good selection of pillows to suit the individual. The staff were great at all times. The bar menu was very nice. And could be used as main meals if you share. Booking over the phone will put you through to an over seas call centre. I'd prefer to discuss with the actual hotel staff.

Can't say anything positive! Check-in was a nightmare, room is small, dirty and not very nice! Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Went for a coke at 10:30 pm and it's unavailable after 9:30pm. Seriously? Save your money go someplace nice! 2 more nights and we're out of this dump. UPDATE: to add insult to injury, the fire alarm goes off at 1 am the night before our biggest scuba diving day! and we left our key in room. No staff anywhere on the grounds explaining false alarm, had to go to front desk for new key.

Stayed here for 4 nights from Wednesday 22nd May and had a great time. Staff were great, in particular Matias who would go above and beyond for me and my better half. The pool area was good but could do with a touch up but nothing major. Our room was simple but did the job! Bed was super comfy! Breakfast every morning was great, plenty of variety and the food in the restaurant was great! Would definitely come back

Arrived for check in with 2 friends, lady checking us in wasn’t the friendliest, we all have those days, but check in was a disaster, she gave us very brief instructions on how to find our rooms, no mention of any of the hotel facilities, no mention of “happy hour”, breakfast details, how the bus works or told anything about booking tours etc. thankfully we have Google. Finding the room was a challenge due to the poor instructions, get to the room and find out I’m missing some towels, I spoke to reception and was advised of an issue with towels coming up from Cairns, ok things happen but why wasn’t this mentioned at check in, reading the reviews on Google this towel situation has been going on for a number of weeks along with a number of other problems. Overall the room was clean, the pool was great and the staff were friendly. Reviews have turned crap in the last 6wks, not sure what’s happened.
