We really enjoyed our stay at Peppers. Our room was clean, well appointed and spacious with a nice balcony. The breakfast was great and fresh with everything you would need (hot options, a fruit and muesli bar, baked goods, cereal etc). The location was also fantastic - it is just up the hill from Hastings Street - a decent 10 minute walk if you are physically able, though they have a regular buggy service if you are not. Two pools also - a family friendly one and a quieter lap pool for adults. I can see the reviews are quite varied on this resort - I think the state of the rooms really differs as they are individually owned. I will also say that it would have been helpful to have had more information provided to us on checking in - all we got told was where the pool was but had no idea re breakfast times etc.
We have stayed at Peppers yearly for 6 years, except for last year. We were very surprised when we stayed this week on the slip in overall upkeep and cleanliness since our last visit 2 years ago. We checked into a room that absolutely stunk of mould, there was mould on the AC vents and doors, there was visible black mould on the cream throw cushions on the couch and the overall cleanliness was awful (lipstick on the cups, dirty cutlery). I spoke to reception, who without questioning, swapped our rooms (they were not surprised at all). Whilst our second room was not mouldy, again the standard of cleanliness was awful. We have always stayed in a room backing the forest and never seen a mould/smell issue. Our second room was across from reception and I would not recommend that area at all for the very high price you pay at peppers. With a function happening, all you could hear was loud music and drunks until around midnight. Very tired and dirty for the price tag. Massive shame as it used to be such a nice stay. Staff were all lovely though!
We really enjoyed our time staying in the Sands apartments. Location was great, very peaceful. The rooms were quite large and well appointed. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. HOWEVER, the mattress and pillows were terrible. Woke up each morning stiff and sore from the rock hard bed. Given the money we spent we did expect far better. Really hope this is fixed as it would stop us from staying here again.
Work spoiled us and we had a 2 night stay here for some team building and meetings and stuff. It was great! The location is unreal! just a short walk to one of the best beaches on the planet and all the restaurants, bars, cafe's and nature walks and other amenities that Hastings St has to offer. But be warned, the walk back up to the rooms is up a steep hill. The staff are awesome! Had some great conversations with a few of them. The breakfast buffet is excellent with loads to choose from and all of it as good as it looks. The rooms are really, really nice. I stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath with a colleague. My only complaint that I knocked a star off for was the weird smell in the rooms. Both of us smelt it, it was a musty, mouldy smell. We left the windows open and fans on during the day to air it out, but it didn't help. We thought it might be in the air-con ducts. Didn't say anything to staff at the time as I didn't want to be the one guy who complained about his room out of our large group.
We had a great 6 nights stay at Peppers. De one bedroom apartment was very comfortable. The bed was really good. I also liked the fact that there was a washing machine (and dryer) in the apartment The staff at reception was very friendly and the buggy service guys were great fun! The location is perfect, quiet but close to the beach/Hastings street! Recommended!
