Step into our brewery and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the Commonwealth Acetate of Lime Factory, a historic gem listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. Originally constructed between 1917 and 1920, these buildings hold significant importance due to their association with the war effort and the remarkable achievements of chemist and brewer, Auguste de Bavay.

Auguste de Bavay, a renowned figure in Australia's brewing industry, designed the Acetate of Lime Factory to produce an essential 8% beer during the war. This unique facility played a vital role in Australian self-sufficiency in ammunition manufacture. Recognizing its significance, Auguste de Bavay generously donated the patent to the Commonwealth of Australia and was even awarded the Order of the British Empire by King George V.

The historical journey of the Acetate of Lime Factory didn't end there. From 1943 to 1948, the building served as a Royal Australian Navy base, cementing its place in the nation's military history. Following that, it became a welcoming hostel for British and European immigrants, fostering the multicultural fabric of Australia that thrives today. Later, it housed the renowned Hans Continental Smallgoods business until 2008, leaving the site brimming with stories and memories.

Revel Brewing Co. takes immense pride in preserving this heritage and re-establishing the original brewing purpose within these historic walls. Our Revel Rivermakers Restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to relish Queensland's remarkable past while enjoying exceptional beer and delightful culinary offerings.

Went to Revel Brewing Co Rivermakers for a boozy Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day. Really cool place in an awesome location on the Brisbane river. It’s got secluded winery vibes on entry and the place itself is actually a really nice place to be. Food wasn’t too bad, classic pub feed style menu. Wasn’t anything to rave about but generally tasty. Massive selection of beers as you would expect all pretty good. All in all good experience, would recommend.

Revel Brewing is located within the modern and exciting ‘Rivermakers’ development which looks like a promising installation in this area of Brisbane. The brewery is welcoming and laid out in a spacious manner with plenty of seating available inside and out, although it’s a shame they were unable to capitalise on the river views. Whilst not my favourite beers, Revel definitely brew a decent drop with plenty of options on tap (takeaways also available). Food was enjoyable, usual pub-style cuisine with a few specials to be had. Definitely kid-friendly with a small playground, a kids menu plus kids eat free Monday-Thursday when an adult meal is purchased. Overall, a pleasant experience well worth a look for locals and visitors alike.

We had an awesome experience at Rivermakers tonight. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere is class and the Revel session ale was delicious. We had the chicken wrap, mozzarella sticks and Steak burger - all incredible. And... I heard a rumour that the Steak Sandwich might be coming back! Well that Sandwich is, no word of a lie, the best I have ever had in my life. So I'm pumped for that. Keep up the awesome work Revel 👏 💪

Sunday afternoon catch-up with family. Can't fault the feel of the place and the staff, wine and beers were excellent. The letdown was the food, at best below average. Sunday seafood platter with a serving of chips and olives. Olives were good as were the chips but the platter was a let down. Not super fresh and guessing the prawns were thawed from frozen. The nachos got a thumbs up.
