Located in the east to access Southbank, the Queensland Museum is an impressive display of some dinosaur skeletons and plenty of taxidermied creatures both big and small. Now I will admit that I didn’t read anything as I only had 1 hr prior to closing time, but the museum is quite small so you can easily see a lot of this stuff fairly quickly. While it well set up and props to the museum curators for setting all up, it feels a bit underwhelming especially for tourists as most museums around Australia let alone to World are more expansive than this place. That being said, if you have time and want to see it, do so.
I had an excellent visit to the Queensland Museum in Brisbane. The museum offers a diverse range of exhibits that cater to all interests. I particularly enjoyed the dinosaur area, the marine life displays, and the wildlife sections, which provided an engaging and educational experience. The museum's location is convenient, situated near the railway station, making it easily accessible for visitors. I highly recommend the Queensland Museum to anyone interested in exploring Queensland's rich natural and cultural heritage.
Really a great place to spend whole day with family and friends. Very beautifully arranged wildlife and other stuffs. The cafe's food and coffee was amazing. Overall had a great time! Kids will enjoy the dinosaur garden & level 4 wildlife section. Highly recommended for spending a hot summer day when the UV index is 11 !
I recently took the family to Queensland Museum Kurilpa | Brisbane, and they had a wonderful time. The museum has been recently renovated, including a new food court. However, be prepared for premium prices - a basic meat pie costs $10.50, and children's meals are around $25. The prices are extraordinarily high, so I strongly recommend bringing your own food and snacks. The museum displays were excellent, with the dinosaur and insect exhibits being particular highlights for the children. My personal favorite was the extensive mineral collection, which showcased nearly every type of rock I've ever encountered - it was truly eye-opening. I was hoping to find information about Captain James Cook, the famous explorer who mapped Australia's East Coast, but unfortunately wasn't successful in my search. The museum features extensive exhibitions about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. While these displays were informative, in my personal opinion, I would have appreciated a more balanced representation of all aspects of Australian history, including more content about European settlement and development. Regarding practical matters, the facility is well-equipped with plenty of restrooms throughout. Parking is available on-site, with a flat fee of approximately $17-18 for the day.
Great place for all ages. General entry is free. You only need to pay for the special exhibits. Plenty to see even with general entry, including ANZAC, dinosaur displays. Some good interactive things. There is wheel chair and pram access but you will need to wait some time for the lifts.
