Great place to spend a few hours with the kids. There's frequently different exhibitions on, so good to keep an eye out! Our kids particularly liked the dinosaur exhibitions, or science-related themes. The museum is quite large with lots to explore, alongside a few cafes and a small restaurant. A fantastic place to spend a few hours with the family when in the city, and the staff were very friendly.
This is a highlight for anyone interested in natural history. Beautiful specimens in really thoughtful and well curated displays that have character and allow for such appreciation. I enjoyed the surprise of the specimen drawers on the uppermost level, along with some live reptiles and insects there. Air conditioning was lovely on a hot day and staff are clearly helpful and passionate. Nice layout that makes it not feel crowded, and plenty of seating amongst the exhibits so that if you rest you are still in close proximity to displays to enjoy, which I find rare in museums. Very pleased to see an acknowledgment of Native Custodians/ apology in a prominent place on the wall. Easy to reach on public transport and the general exhibits are free. Truly a spectacular collection of items and I will be back next time I am in Brisbane
Fantastic exhibition. As a dinosaur enthusiast, this is not only up to date with scientific knowledge (more than any museum I've ever been to), but represents so in the art style as well. Exhibition design is very informative and focuses on delivering that information in an easy way. Lastly, you have to applaud the fact that the exhibition has a theme of animals discovered in Australia, and has a very well rounded roster of interesting animals, including a beautiful Muttaburrasaurus. Also, I have to say, the attention to detail is carried even to the gift store with creative items that have beautiful artworks.
Really a great place to spend whole day with family and friends. Very beautifully arranged wildlife and other stuffs. The cafe's food and coffee was amazing. Overall had a great time! Kids will enjoy the dinosaur garden & level 4 wildlife section. Highly recommended for spending a hot summer day when the UV index is 11 !
