•Brunswick’s Railway Hotel has been a north-side institution for nearly 140 years. The many past lives and stories told across the front bar have embedded this place into locals hearts. The old local is set to become the new local, once again. The new Hotel Railway offers modern Brunswick a place to perch from afternoon until late. Entering the public bar through a Victorian-era hallway, you’ll see distinct areas, all filled with natural light. The centrepiece is a striking 20-metre recycled brick bar. The beer garden offers a serene escape from the bustle of the city, featuring comfortable seating, lush greenery, and an inviting atmosphere perfect for socialising. As you unwind with a craft beer or a signature cocktail, the sound of laughter and clinking glasses creates a warm and welcoming ambience. With a variety of seating options from cosy booths to high-top tables, every guest can find their perfect spot to relax and enjoy.
Paying homage to Brunswick's migrant past, the food menu is filled with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Southern European flavours, complemented by a curated drink list with more than 50 wine labels, specialty and classic cocktails, 12 beers on tap and an extensive selection of local vermouth. But the charm of Hotel Railway Brunswick doesn't just stop at its historical ambience and tantalising menu. The venue offers a variety of spaces tailored for different gatherings, whether you’re catching up with friends, celebrating a special occasion, or just winding down after a long day. The light-filled, spacious dining room is complete with a working fireplace and large table options to suit large get-togethers. Your private events can be hosted in their intimate function room, which provides a cosy environment that encourages conversation and connection.

Great venue, love the old pubs. $39 for the steak, chips, salad and bread was reasonable. 2 serves of steak & chips was needed as they were quite small - quite tasty though. Never had rump cap before, was reasonably tasty.
Dropped in after work on a Friday. Straight off the train at Brunswick station and you cannot miss this venue. Very much a local place to meet. So many places from the outdoor beer garden to the terrace with sunny view of station to the inside spaces. Great staff and genuinely helpful and engaging. The food was typical pub style but certainly delicious. Friday has a raffle and music.
We had the most amazing night and I honestly had to leave a review because Daisy made the whole experience unforgettable. It was my birthday and Daisy went above and beyond from the moment we arrived. She was basically our waitress for the entire night , so attentive, friendly, and genuinely lovely. Nothing was ever too much trouble, she kept checking in on us, made sure everything was perfect, and brought such a fun and warm energy to the night. You can tell she truly cares about the experience guests have, and she made my birthday feel really special. Staff like Daisy are rare and she deserves all the recognition. Thank you so much for making my birthday celebration so memorable , we’ll absolutely be back!
We visited on Friday evening and the place was full of happy vibes. The staff were super friendly, which made the night even better. Such a lovely memory for us😍 We ordered the 250g Yarra Valley Rump and the Pan-Fried Snapper. The food took a bit of time to come out, but it was totally worth the wait. The steak sauce matched perfectly with the meat, and the salad was fresh and tasty. The snapper was warm and, although it looked a bit small, it was surprisingly filling. We also joined the Friday meat raffle – unfortunately, we didn’t win, but it was still a lot of fun and added to the friendly, cheerful atmosphere. Highly recommend making a booking if you plan to come on a Friday👍🏻
Unfortunately the worst Vegan Parma I’ve had in Melbourne. It was a mashed potato patty with a handful of unmelted cheese on top. I had a couple of bites and decided that the $30 was a sunk cost and that I’d write it up to save the next poor soul. Frustratingly, the menu did not explain what the Parma would be and the photo was clearly inaccurate (see the photos).
