The Wild West Moon Dog in Footscray is one of the most unique and entertaining spots I’ve been to in a while. Spread across two huge floors, it’s a massive venue packed with character—from its quirky Western saloon vibe to the mechanical bull right in the middle of the space, which adds a whole lot of fun to the night. A live band was playing upstairs that night. Food-wise, the corn ribs and crispy potatoes were absolute standouts. The corn ribs were buttery, smoky, and packed with flavour, while the potatoes were golden, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned—simple dishes done incredibly well. The atmosphere is high-energy and playful, making it the perfect place for groups, celebrations, or anyone just looking to unwind in a lively space. Despite the size and weekend crowd, service was quick and friendly, and the drinks list had plenty of options to keep everyone happy.

First visited Moondog Brewery in their first venue in Richmond but hadn't ventured west to Moon Dog Wild West. Visited with friends on a Saturday afternoon. Was quite lively with a few groups of guys and some mixed groups. Large, spacious venue with plenty of seating. Has an upstairs too, but didn't venture up there. Thankfully, the bucking bull was out of order, as i can imagine it gets quite noisy when that is working. Bar staff super friendly and generous with allowing us tastings prior to purchase.

This bar sits on what once was a huge furniture shop. It spans across three levels with the top level being a rooftop without cover. The main attraction on ground level is definitely the mechanic bull that you can ride (after signing the waiver document). Huge selection of drinks from the tap or bottled. There is also a small slide and few pinball machines for the young ones. Food is a pretty average experience, very similar to other pubs. Food - 6 Service - 7 Vibe - 7 Price - $$$

I was originally put off by the 3.6 stars on Google, but the place is pretty cool. It was buzzing on a Saturday night - we had heaps of fun riding the mechanical bull. There wasn’t much of a line, it was free to ride and we just had to sign a waiver. The drinks were pretty good, staff were friendly. Was cool to see some people taking it quite seriously with country outfits etc Would recommend, novel experience !

Amazing experience at Moon Dog Wild West in Footscray The decor is super fun and creative — it really gives the place a unique vibe. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Drinks were also great, with lots of variety and perfectly made. And the staff? So friendly and attentive, they really made us feel welcome. Can’t wait to come back!
