I booked a room for my partner’s birthday, which was also planned as a retreat for four of us. I had reserved a table at the hotel restaurant in advance, called to confirm it, and reconfirmed again at check-in around 1:30 pm. Despite all of this, my reservation was cancelled at 4:00 pm, even though our booking time was 7:00 pm. When I asked reception what had happened, I was told they were short-staffed and that the chef “didn’t want us to be kept waiting.” We explained that we were happy to wait, as this dinner was an important part of my partner’s birthday celebration. However, the receptionist responded, “The chef just doesn’t want to, he is a bit uncomfortable tonight.” This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. We were in the middle of Marysville, where only a few restaurants are open in the evening, and the hotel restaurant was clearly the best option for a birthday dinner—unlike the nearby clubs or bars. Eventually, we discovered that there was a large function for a sports car club that night. It felt as though we were refused service simply because we were not part of that group, or because the hotel expected to make more money from the function guests. I spoke with the General Manager, who told me to “just come and let them know, and they would take care of us,” yet he offered no written confirmation or compensation. After having a confirmed booking cancelled three times, how could we trust that promise? As an Accor member, I find this experience completely unacceptable. I expect a formal response and an appropriate resolution
What a great two night stay at Peppers Marysville. Excellent accommodation, food and customer service. A special mention to Karen, Bec and Emma for being so helpful and friendly. Setting the standard for wonderful hosts I'd say.
Nice rooms. great facility. Close to shops & parks . Air conditioning was faulty and we over heated with baby being very distraught. I only realised after we got so hot had to leave the room. Gauge was showing 18. But not actually on at all. Baby’s thermometer we had showed 26. Reception reset it and it was ok but i had to walk around the conference area for 15 minutes with my grandchild whom i was minding until our room cooled down enough to go back in.
I had confirmed my arrival time between 10–11am, but upon arrival I was informed that the rooms were not ready due to a staff shortage. I returned at 3pm to check in, only to be told once again that the rooms were still not available. I had to wait until 4:30pm to finally check in. Additionally, the receptionist assured me that no reservation was needed for the restaurant. However, when I arrived with my child, we were told the restaurant was fully booked — very frustrating and poorly managed. The room itself was quite underwhelming. There was no drinking water provided, no milk for coffee, no cutlery or plates, and not even a microwave to warm up a simple snack. The breakfast was especially disappointing — the eggs were soggy and tasteless, and the pancakes were extremely dry. We paid $48 for a meal we couldn’t even enjoy. It felt like a rip-off. The only good thing I can say is the location. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
Lovely hotel in Marysville. Feels like luxury ! We stayed 2 nights. The bed was comfortable. We did not have the breakfast buffet so I can’t comment about that. Staff were attentive and friendly. Recommend to all!
