Hartley’s Restaurant is the dinner destination of the Prahran Mission. You know, the Prahran Mission from which the superb Mission Cafe sprang forth. You know, the one with the very tasty food, good coffee, and a great big heart. If you hadn’t heard, the Prahran Mission runs a number of dining spaces within their recently renovated building - Hartley’s Restaurant is one of them. Hartley’s Restaurant (and Mission Cafe) is made up of dedicated professionals working alongside individuals with extraordinary stories. In many cases they haven’t been able to finish their education, have been homeless, or have struggled with mental illness. Prahran Mission offers training and employment, while challenging stigma and discrimination to foster an atmosphere of social inclusion. Plus, the food’s pretty darn great. Like, really good. Hartley’s Restaurant is found on the ground floor of the building, comfortably sitting up to 65 guests. There’s also an adjoining courtyard, which is great during summer. The Mission Cafe is found on Chapel Street, just after High Street (and before Greville). Woo! That’s smack bang in the middle of Prahran. Trams at your fingertips (feet?), an Prahran train station just a short walk away. As well as all the shopping and people watching that Chapel Street has to offer.
