I booked a table in advanced for myself as I’m a solo traveler. They gave me a table in the middle, so I asked to move to a table with a view. The waitress said they were fully booked even if the place was more than half empty. Then she suggested a table at the sun so I took the table beside it with a stripe of shade. Nobody came to take my order at the table and the app didn’t work for me because my number is from another country and I didn’t receive a text message for the confirmation (to much bureaucracy to eat) so I ordered at the bar. The waitress charged 26 dollars for a Burrito that should cost 16 according to the menu, so I had to complain about it. The staff are not very welcoming, the roof top has a view to the House of Parliament but not a city view as it’s on the second floor. It’s not allowed to smoke even at the open spaces. The atmosphere is not nice, music is not nice, they were playing some metal rock and only two waitresses working, so the service is slow. When she brought my food to the table, I asked for cutlery and she told me to take from the next table myself and said they don’t do table service and that I should order from the app. Ordering cutlery from the app? Really?
I didn’t try the food as I was put off as soon as I walked in. The downstairs was filled with empty plates/ food on every table. The smell also reflected the state of the place. Long wait for drinks due to lack of (a) bartender(s) also.
The Imperial Hotel in Melbourne is a charming establishment steeped in history, offering a unique blend of tradition and modern amenities. The fresh food is a standout feature, with a menu that highlights quality ingredients and delicious flavors. Their ordering system is efficient, making the dining experience seamless, and I was impressed by how quickly the food arrived at our table. The ambiance is homely, creating a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. Additionally, the pricing is well within reason, providing great value for the quality of food and service offered. However, there are a couple of areas for improvement. The staff could benefit from being more friendly and engaging, as their demeanor felt a bit distant during my visit. Additionally, the men’s toilets left something to be desired, with a noticeable odor that could be detected from the hallways. Overall, the Imperial Hotel is a solid choice for a meal steeped in history and good food, though a little attention to staff friendliness and restroom cleanliness would enhance the experience even further.
Been here a few times over the years before seeing a show and the staff are always friendly and helpful and food has been really good 😊🤤 Tonight we had the eggplant parmigiana and Caesar salad both so good
Wonderful place to have a drink. They were booked with reservations, but someone let us sit at their table for a little bit till their other guests arrived 2 hours later.
