•If you're looking for a convenient and classy place to have your wedding or reception, Mantra Southbank could be the ideal location. You can have an indoor or outdoor ceremony and work with the hotel staff to coordinate a reception meal that your friends and family will love. There are several resort services that you can take advantage of as well. Visit the on-site, high-quality restaurant for an intimate date or a family dinner that everyone will enjoy. We'd also recommend the Mantra Southbank to those with business events on the cards, like a meeting or workshop.
Stayed at the mantra with my two daughters just to spend some quality time together. It was a two bedroom corner apartment. The view was great and the size of the apartment made you feel like we all had space. We had everything we needed. The bedrooms were a good size. Bathroom is a basic colour and design but functional. I would probably suggest a bit more colour and warmth in the rooms as they are very grey. The breakfast was a buffet with a fair choice but the coffee was cold. Our overall stay was great and the staff were really lovely and parking was a breeze. I will definitely return.
We arrived well before the official check-in time, but the lady at reception was fantastic. She completed the paperwork efficiently and arranged storage for our luggage so we could explore the area. When the room became available earlier than expected, she kindly called to let us know — excellent service. The room itself was well insulated from outside noise, and the air conditioning covered the entire apartment, which was very much appreciated on a hot day. Unfortunately, there were several areas that fell short. Shortly after checking in, I noticed there was not enough toilet paper in the bathroom or stored in any of the cupboards. I had to go back to reception, where a male staff member told me to “look under in the cupboards.” I had already checked thoroughly and confirmed there was none I'm not an idiot .This lead to realising there was also no hand wash so we had to get the bottle off the wall and add water to get some suds. Later that evening, when it was time to shower, we found there was also no shampoo or body wash in the bathroom the only thing we had was conditioner in the bottles. This left us with the option of returning to reception again at 9pm or waiting for someone to come to the room, which felt intrusive. For a room costing $300 per night, these are basic amenities that should already be provided. Additionally, there was a large piece of broken glass on the floor in the children’s bedroom, raising serious safety concerns. Combined with the lack of basic supplies, this suggests shortcomings in the room inspection and cleaning procedures. Overall, while the front desk service was excellent, the property needs to review its housekeeping and quality control processes to meet the standard expected of a hotel chain such as Mantra. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I arrived at the hotel to check in with my 11-year-old son after a long trip, with a confirmed booking and reservation already paid for. At reception, I was told I could not check in because I did not have a physical credit card with me, even though I had my digital credit card available and ready to pay. When I politely asked if there was any alternative solution, the staff member was extremely rude, dismissive, and confrontational. He asked me four times if I had my credit card, repeatedly implying that I was lying. The tone and attitude were humiliating — especially in front of my child. Instead of trying to help, he simply said he would cancel my booking and refused to let me stay. No empathy. No professionalism. No effort to find a solution. I was left standing there with my child, forced to leave the hotel late in the day, unsure whether my money would even be refunded. I understand hotels have policies — but there is no excuse for treating a guest like a criminal, particularly a parent traveling with a child. Policies should be enforced with respect and basic human decency, which was completely absent here. This experience was stressful, embarrassing, and unacceptable. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families. There are many hotels in Melbourne — choose one that treats guests with respect.
I requested a balcony with the spa. When checking in, there was no mention of no balcony. The apartment was small and no where to manage our luggage. The TV in the Bedroom was no functioning due possibly to poor connection. We requested this to be fixed but not done. The toilet seat would no stay up and the Spa looked unhygienic. On the positive side we were given an extra hour for check-out and the staff were very pleasant. We would have gone to the restaurant “MEZZI” but the reviews were not good. The apartment needs to be refreshed and renovated. Also state what apartments come with a balcony and which dont.
Good location and friendly staff, however a vape was left in our room, and they kept on giving us more towel with out taking the dirty ones away. We ended up with twelve towels for 3 nights. Also pool cannot be described as an infinity pool or outdoors
