Function Venue
•The MCG is more than just a sports venue. It’s a place where memories are made and childhood dreams come alive. There are fleeting moments at the ‘G that stay with you forever. Ask any Victorian and they’ll be aware of the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s status as the home of sport. But it is also steeped in a rich history; established in 1853, less than 20 years after the founding of Melbourne, it is often described as the beating heart of this fantastic city. It has been the home of Australian football since 1859, and was the birthplace of Test cricket in 1877 and one-day international cricket in 1971.
It is the largest stadium in Australia, perfect for hosting a wide range of events beyond just cricket. With a seating capacity of over 100,000, the MCG plays host to thrilling AFL matches, international cricket fixtures, and various concerts featuring world-renowned artists. The impressive size and accessibility make it an ideal location for major sporting events and other events, whether social or corporate.

Highly recommend the premium access experience. We were given this as a gift and were pleasantly surprised to find we had our own tour guide 'Tom'. He was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. This tour took us to places the general tour doesn't go. The sports museum is also excellent for all sports enthusiasts not just AFL and Cricket.
On the one hand the MCG is a fantastic live sport venue that I have been to countless times. The public transit to get there is also magnificent. However the new security measures in place means that I was in line for 40 minutes to get into the venue and missed half the first quarter. Just make sure you get into the venue and half an hour early and you won't have any lines to worry about.
The MCG is a stadium guiding sports events like AFL cricket and more. The AFL hosts many people with a great atmosphere and a wide range of seating shops, food drinks, and a great view on the top level. MCG has food going from hot chips all the way to hot jam doughnuts with tickets for good prices. The MCG also has Merch shops for the teams playing the games.
Went to the MCG for a footy game – Melbourne vs Sydney Swans – and it was an amazing experience. The crowd was incredible and the atmosphere was electric. You could really feel the energy from the fans. Everything from the view to the vibe made for a great night.
What an amazing experience to be inside the huge MCG! We took a guided tour and our guide was a very sweet lady who showed us around the ground, halls, radio stations, dressing rooms and the long room! The stories of great players and the work that goes behind the scenes were all narrated all along the tour.
